does anyone make club/dance music with a MPC2500?

any help would be great... a very new newbie to MPC2500. i read a lot of things about this machine, but does anybody use this machine to make club/dance music?

What do you mean? Press record and hit some pads. How do you make hiphop with this machine?

Im sure theres plenty,,, But not me.

Although, if you really want to make that kind of music, you could have saved a lot of money and grabbed one of them Roland Groove Station (MC303) machines..all the sounds you need is already pre-loaded.

i'm assuming by club/dance you mean non-hiphop? i know these forums seem fairly hiphop-centric, but its not the only style that can be made with an mpc

the only person i know currently using the 2500 is mr copy, who is knocking out techno/house on soma records here in glasgow

the 2000 has been used plenty though, for instance electro (mr pauli), techno (aril brikha), so anything those guys can do can also be achieved, and more, on a 2500

I make techno as well as Dubstep with MPC 5000.

Nice thing is using the pads to mute/unmute loops so you can build up 'live'

However, I'm inclined to say : buy a Yamaha RS7000 for Techno, much more possibilities !
I have the MPC 5000 for a month now, and allthough it has it good points, it doesn't beat the RS7000 except for the harddisk option (which -having a computer- is just the less interesting feature for me)

just out of interest, what features of the yamaha do you reckon make it better for techno? also, do you reckon its better as a all-in-one solution as well as a midi sequencing option?

I do make house music with my 2500.
I think it depends on your style of house/ dance music style, mine is funky oriented, 100% sample based.
I can do exactly what I want.

on each sequence, you can make a load of bass lines, drum patterns, effects tracks, then just flip between them & build your tracks as you like, using the solo button to solo tracks for fills, then un-solo back in again.

I make house music with the 5000. Just the loops and some mixing. All those production tricks common for that type of music I do in a sequencer for now because it's so time consuming. Compare a DAW sequencer where you have a global view to the MPC, especially the 2500, has little window real estate. You easily get lost!

depending on your workflow and gear list, something like ableton might make more sense. but it's totally doable (and fun).

if it involves samples and midi, an mpc can do it. i do drone/ambient stuff all the time with it.
