Question About Playing Notes in a Scale..Off Midi from MPC4k

hey guys i have my Synth hooked up to my MPC4k.. and i made a kool little riff using just the PADS ..(triggering the Synth from the MPC pads)

i would like to know is there a way for me to copy the notes and move them up 1 Scale (play up a scale)

i know i could loook on the step edit screen find out what Notes they are then jump on my Synth and play it out.. but i was thinking maybe theres a short cut for working on the fly

do you mean play the riff back an octave higher, or go make the track play back in a different key?

either way... you can make a copy of the track. if it's set as a drum track, then make a keyboard track so the transpose option apears. now, you can transpose the track up or down.

if you leave it like that, you're not changing the note data... you're just telling the mpc to transpose the info as it plays it back. to make mpc change the note data... then you hit the open window key, transpose, and make it permanent there.

yes 12 = 12 semitones = 1 octave.

you can, but you have the make the change permanent, then repeat the process.

when you have the cursor on the transpose option, hit the open window key. do what you're gonna do, then instruct the mpc to make the change permanent. then just repeat the process if you want to go up or down another octave.

even tho it tells you that it will make the change permanent. -it's now modifiing the actual midi data. you can always transpose the track the other way and make the changes permanent to return it to it's original state.

nah.. i think thats a lil more time consuming i get u though.. u can hook up all ur plugs up and then record into it, and play with the midi there, i was thinkin more in terms of doin everything on the fly

Not trying to be a d!ck or anything, but what's so time consuming about it, going about it this route if you've already got your mpc set up as an instrument anyway?

simply put i like to record and work in my mpc...have the whole song recorded there so when i push start on my mpc everything comes on all my synths, sounds come together...
