Yes, thank you Stephen. Works excellent here.

You should tell the moderaters over at www.OSXAUDIO.com about this fine little program. They list it on there main page as one of the new OSX apps. (spread the word of quality programing!)

>any chance of ever being able to audition the samples by just clicking on the pads within MPC Pad 187? also, When you announced your creating this program in the previous thread, i remember another programmer talked about possibly implimenting a slicer with code he'd already worked out, is this a possibility or just fantasy? that'd just put this program totally on top!

Again, thanks for a fine and wonderful MPC1000 editor. If i where on Windows box i'd be jealous.
 :!:

What OS version do you have? The application will only run under Mac OS X 10.3.

Stephen - once again your a genius. And have given me the only good reason I could be bothered upgrading to OSX 10.3.

By the looks of the functions you've incorporated - this shytes all over the MpcPgmMaker app. (I know it's intended for the 2000) Maybe I can get my $33 AUS back - probably not hey

This is gunna make life so much easier!!!! Thanx again

It should be around for as long as I have a place online to host the file.

actuel, thanks for the suggestions. I have a text file with ideas for a new release. I probably won't be implementing anything new for a while, but I'm always open to suggestions. Splitting a .wav file into equal segments is pretty trivial and shouldn't be hard to implement in a new version... ;)

I could also add playing samples by clicking on pads. The code for playing audio is only around 10 lines of code (I love Mac OS X).

Hey, I was thinking about the 10.2 version. Because the MPC Pad 187 turned out as nicely as it has I think I'll continue developing it. But, I don't really want to spend time writing a 10.2 app that I'll never use. I wrote MPC Pad 187 for myself but put more effort and features into it for the rest of us Mac / MPC 1000 users. Instead I was thinking of continuing the app from its current state.

I've received some good ideas for a new version. Here's some good ones:
- Split a sample into equal segments (4, 8, or 16 segments). Assign them to pads automatically.
- Tune a sample over a range of pads. Like 16 Levels/Tune, but set as a program.
- Have samples play when the pads are clicked.

I'm interested in those ones myself, so they have a good chance of getting implemented. However, I wouldn't expect anything new for a while.

Better than spending time making a 10.2 version (bleh)?

First off, thanks. Now on to the problems, ha.

I can only audition the sample for the first pad I assign a sample to. I'm not able to audition samples after that. Example: I drag Kck1.wav to pad1, then audition sample. All good. Then I move to pad2, and I can no longer audition any samples.

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

I should also note that I am using the DigiDesign CoreAudio driver...so it could be an issue with that. So...are any other ProTools users experiencing this problem (b/c if you have PT, you are running the CoreAudio driver.)

I've had some questions so I thought I'd post a little tutorial for getting more out of MPC Pad 187:

Opening Programs
You have a few of options. The third method is the easiest.
    1) Choose "Open" from the app's File menu
    2) Drag a .pgm file onto the application icon
    3) The best thing to do is:
      - Go to the Finder and select a .pgm file
      - "Get Info" on the file (cmd-i)
      - Click on the "Open With" pop up menu and choose "Other..."
      - Find MPC Pad 187 and click "Add"
      - Then, below the pop up menu, click the "Change All..." button and in the next window click "Continue"
      - Now all .pgm files will always open with MPC Pad 187 :)
You'll know if this worked if you log out and log back in. All the .pgm icons should have the fancy MPC Pad 187 program icon.

Samples are not found when reloading PGMs
The application finds samples the same way the MPC 1000 does. It looks for samples only in the same folder as the .pgm file. The reason is PGM files do not store the path to samples, only their names. So instead of just saving the PGM, choose "Export" from the File menu. Doing so will export the PGM file and its samples.

You should always choose Export whenever you add or rename samples in a Program. More information can be found in the Help menu of the application.

In what way can you not audition samples? Do you get the warning message with the warning icon?

Are there samples assigned to the pad - and is the sample that is assigned selected? (the path to the sample should appear in black if the sample is found - see above post about how the app finds samples).
