multi-tracking

I have an MPC1000, no JJOS yet I also have an Mbox2. I know about the midi chain i'm just not sure about the in's and out's. I'm just not sure what out's to use on the MPC . How many instruments can i track at a time?I also need to know the steps in Protools. Is there anywhere i can see this done manually?

the MBOX, at most, can record 4 mono signals, or 2 stereo pairs. to do this you must utilize bothe the analog inputs and the SPDIF input.

you can adjust which tracks or instruments or PGMs the mpc transmits on which ports.

I have an Mbox 1, and it can only in analog or in digital - not both at once. (i.e. when you use the SPDIF, you cannot use either of the analog preamps simultaneously.)

are you positive that the Mbox 2 is different?

yagga yo- if you doan know how to set indiv outs in the programs and doan wanna rtfm, here's an easy way to track out all your stuff without any of the boring programming stuff :

1)set up the midi sync with your DAW with your mpc as slave. (use the search button and type something like "midi sync mpc" to find that info. if you doan know, you need to know)

2)if you got ANY t.c. swing settings other than '50' in your sequence, your gonna wanna use MTC, and not midi clock.MTC will play back swing settings correctly, however, MTC is fussy to set up correctly, and fuggs up the first 1/8 note of your sequence playback when set to slave. so, you need to add 1 Bar of empty space at the beginning of your song or sequence.

3)record-enable your DAW onna stereo track, and SOLO playback on the MPC. record that soloed track into the DAW, stop the DAW, record-enable another track on the DAW, SOLO the next track on the mpc, and record it, so, on .....with an 8 or 16 bar sequence i can track out beatz pretty quickly, and doan have to sit and think of what samples share what outputs ...

hmmm, not positive. I know I have seen a video of someone doing this exact thing with an MBOX, but I have no idea what kind of MBOX it was (pro, 2, whatever they have now)
