can you burn your beats with this or just upload data?

i think you can burn, but its well expensive- have a look about on the forum for cheaper alternatives.

i've just bought a teac drive - so when thats in i'll post in that forum how that goes..

i have heard that they can, other posts say that they can't. does anyone reading this actually have one? thank you!

You can write an audio WAV file to CD with that drive. Not more and not less. So to "burn your beat" to a CD, you have to first resample it to WAV file inside the MPC, which, in my opinion, is much too unflexible and not nearly worth the money for that drive.

But yes, there are cheaper drives that can be hacked to work in the 2500 other then the official add-on drive.

i can confirm the teac drive i bought works to load stuff up and sample from.

i havent tried saving to it, or converting things to wav etc.

for me even if it cant do this, the difference in price makes it worth it to me, i wouldnt really want to do that anyways.

Can someone guide me to where i can get one of these teac drives

i got mine off ebay.

mine is a hp/teac drive. some people seem to think these are less good than the straight teac ones. i cant comment on that, all i can say is the one i have works lovely and im happy with it.

i did read somewhere here that others might work as long as the have a 2mb buffer and you do the pin mod, but for me getting this one was pushing the boundaries enough but if you know what you are doing.....
