I have an ESI--32 sampler from E-MU that I use as well, what I was talking about is I collect sh*t, especially the good ones

I wanted to buy an XL anyway

Do you have the effects card as well?
Because bare bones out the box, its kinda welll bare.
Do you have the ram expanded as well?

Xl is boss hands down

Naaa...no 8 outs or FX but I dont really need them much actually but I do have a maxed out ram. I use an SP 404 for effects like bass lines, compresor, reverb, and vinyl sim so im ok 4 now

how is the compressor feature on the sp?
i was thinking of using it as an effects unit for the mp, aside from triggering stuff (GUNSHOTS!) while dj'ing. kind of a cheap way of eq'ing and compressing drums i sample on the mp, and then putting them back into the box. the big box.

nice nice....I dont have an effects card either or the 8 outs.
I just EQ and compress with a microkorg and an ES-1 everything i sample before it goes into the MPC.
The sound comes out great.

Yea since I replaced my SP 404 for a XL, I was about to sell it but decided that I could use it for effects and they work out real good. The compression is tricky but if you do it right, then you could get some real good stuf out of the 404 so my basic set up is just an XL, 404, and PT-01...basic stuff but good

My Dad is Polish, making me half Polish but I don't speak it. I have an E-mu ESI4000 I barely use I think I'm gonna take it ohome from the studio and start sampling into it, I don't have any way to save from it though the SCSI port is all big and **** up looking.

The ESI series is kind of bad at truncating the samples, chopping and stuff because you cant see the waveform but there is another way to do this - you could get the SCSI controller get the SCSI ribbon cable plugged into the sampler mainboard and the controller board, then transfer the samples via SCSI with Esi-Win(good tool)
when using soundforge you could transfer the samples with the loop points so the sample edit process is a lot easier.
btw the ESI samplers are good stuff as you can import the AKAI sample disks as well and EMU and Spectrasonics released some good sample disks not only with drum sets but leads basses and stuff as well.

Before i got an mpc2k i had it hooked up with an mpd and Yamaha RM1X via MIDI so i recorded the lanes into the RM1X sequencer and triggered samples with mpd - works good as well(my first budget setup)
I found some cool effects in the sampler, and i have the Turbo expansion board mounted.

Since the SCSI connection is not a 25 pin it's some other weird big thing I think I can pop an internal zip in my ESI

Yes You can! i did that as well but COD made me quit so now i have the SCSI Hard Drive and SCSI Cd drive connected on the SCSI bus working prefectly and connected all this sh*t to my pc via the SCSI controller card as told before

Tell me more about the SCSI CD drive. I have one but I don't think I get it... does it burn data to the CD? If not what's the point of having it?

The point of having the Emu Esi connected to a SCSI CD drive is that you can access various sample disks from Akai(you can import them), emu, spectrasonics that were on a CD, you can`t burn data on the CD with these samplers, there is no support for that, it is only possible to read data.

If you want some more info on how i made it just tell me, ill give you some photos as well

-Can't trim while a sequence plays.
-Can't hear an external audio source without stopping sequence and going into "sample" mode.
-No volume control for each track. (Velocity works ok but it's not the same)
-Effects you have to buy separately.
-Only lo-pass filter.
-Damn double-triggering of pads.

BUT, it starts up 3 minutes faster than my MV8000 and that's why I use it alongside a sp505 and an ESX.

definitely wish I would have bought a 4000 instead.
