damn the loss of filter 2 was the reason i never upgraded to jjos 2
now i can't wait

^ i doubt it. i think it's that much if you already have os1. don't quote me, but i think it's something like

os1: 39 usd
os2: 49 usd
os2xl upgrade: 15 usd

oR the other way

os1: 39 usd
straight to os2xl: 65 usd

all said ballpark sum = 104 usd

This is mad!!!!
Cant wait till jj drops it in Dec!
But what happened to looping crossfade????????

Hey Nym we got one of your request (TC Strength) What are the chanses of sending another email to jj requesting Crossfade Looping? This is more important than bass/treble or a few other addition.
We should get this happening, We should turn the MPC into a full blown Sampler!

TC Strength and Crossfade Looping is all I need to add to my mp!

Peace!

i dunno whether crossfade looping is being considered. i also don't know if it's possible to do without A, straight up DEVOURING polyphony, or B, being an offline destructive TRIM parameter.

i'd sure love it, but meanwhile i've done pretty decent with getting very few clicks with from-record samples. INST pgm samples, though, is a whole other matter. i would love crossfade looping but it surely ain't a dealbreaker.

a nice smooth crossfade loop....mmmmh

if/when i alpha test os2, i'll ask about crossfade looping.
crazy to think that last december i was alpha testing os2, and now a year later it's os2xl. time has flown and jjos development has really kept me motivated to learn.

not to sure how this would work with loops (havent tried it)
but on the mpc5000 it has a snap to 0 crossing point would that help reduce clicks in loops if they where jioned a a 0 crossing point?
That could be an easier way to smaller coding to get seemless loops.
what do you think nym? any experience with it?
Peace!

yeh the simpler in ableton has this feature, snap to zero, makes it so easy to get a sound looped nicely.

you can snap to zero in a second by zooming in on the waveform in trim, but you're still gonna get clicks if the shape of the waveform changes as a result of picking up the beginning of the loop when it gets to the end w/o some crossfading....

snap to zero is good but that's only good for mono samples. snap to zero in stereo samples isn't as easy as zero crosspoints will never occur at the exact same place on both channels...independent stereo channel loops, now, that's a whole other question but we'll never see that.

i posted a lengthy feature request in the 'lets talk quantize strength' thread which probably should have been here. let me know what you think.

so nym if i just use this for drums and chops what new things can i do with this os

i don't know the technical terms i just push the buttons and see what happens so i'm curious if you can explain
By dtaa pla muk Tue Nov 04, 2008 4:23 am
legs, i'll get to it. cursory reads/thoughts were positive, i like it but in some ways it's something i'm aware of but not familiar with. i understand the results but need to grasp the mechanicals a bit more before making a better comment on it.

tony - the difficult thing in trying to explain what you can do with this os is that it is so jargon-laced.

drums: first, simult.
simult allows you to link to pads so that when you play 1, you also play the other.
it's like layering sounds on a single pad, but allows you to do more than just stack em, because this way you ca filter em differently, pan em differently, and most importantly "ADSR" them differently. ADSR is, very simply speaking, the physical shaping of the sound wave. think of COMPRESSION like squeezing - while ADSR is "carving."

second, the sequencer.
i mean what can i say - it's my favorite midi sequencer. of all the few i've used i've liked this the most. in the way i use it i find it easy to navigate and really easy/effective. the specifics here are many and nuanced.

as for chops, jjos allows me to slice every sample note for note, so that every single sample consists of 1 recorded note. i can use the sequencer to then rebuild/reinterpret the sample in any way i want, using the sampler's MICROLOOPING style capability to make any 1 note as long or as short as i want, without the objectionably unrealistic sound of timestretching.

i feel bad constantly linking to my videos as much posted material gets old, but:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbqXKwXoImc

i dunno. i feel like trying it to explain it in so few words is kind of weak. if i were to really sit down and explain the potential of the feature set in jjos, i could slap a title on it and call it "beatmaking in jjos."

oh yea i agree jj is the illest but i got 4.99

i was just talking about the upgrade which if i can only do that pad thing ur talking about with the drums on the os2 or os3 then i'm gonna get it

i need to get deeper into os1 4.99

i just got my new pads, painted the mpc sides again and am ready for warrior's drum
