MPC1000 and Mac Compatibility?

Hello everyone, I'm brand-new to these forums and I'm looking into buying an MPC 1000. Right now I make beats using Reason on my Macintosh, and I was curious as to other's experiences with the MPC1000 and Apple computers. I've heard some people suggest that there are compatibility issues with Macs, so I want to make sure that buying the MPC 1000 will be a good investment for me.

The computer I use is a 2001 iBook running OS 10.1, with 384 Megs of RAM.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I've been dying to get my hands on an MPC.

No problem whatsoever. Apple in fact was one of the first companies
to implement the "USB Mass Storage Protocol" to the full extend in their OS. There's no need to install anything.

The MPC will mount on the desktop like any other storage device connected.

You might want to consider upgrading to Mac OS X 10.3 - it will be a large performance increase for your iBook over 10.1 (I have the same 'Book as you).

Also if you upgrade to 10.3 you'll be able to use the new MPC program editor, MPC Pad 187. It will only run on Mac OS X 10.3. It's a free program you can get here:

For right now at least I'd say MPC1000 + Mac OS 10.3 would be the best pair you can have. (because of free software / nice support for the USB connection / good MIDI support in the OS)

as everybody said already: no problems whatsoever. and with stevens` nice mpc187 editor you can make program files directly on your ibook...

i loaded my mpc sounds on my mac via usb cable to use with logic but the files sound terrible what am i doing wrong? the snares & kicks are low and clipped what do i do
