Zenguru is correct. The board is easy to make.
The components are from 74xx series, which is very popular and has been around for decades.

If anyone is interested in what the diode/ resistor mod does, it is this:
At power on the capacitor C3 charges through R3. This happens at a slow rate because of the resistor limiting the current.
When powered off the capacitor discharges through the diode quickly because it bypasses the resistor.
At power on the diode doesn't conduct because it is facing the wrong way (it only conducts in one direction).
Increasing the resistor causes the capacitor to charge at a slower rate.

Hence the circuit is a power on delay.

The original problem was caused by turning off and on too quickly, i.e. capacitor had not fully discharged, so took very little time to charge up and trigger U2-C (which with U2-D acts as a flip flop). I think this circuit is designed to stop the pads being read until the capacitor has charged up, i.e. while the MPC boots up so it can determine what pads are connected(old/new).

Good luck to everyone involved in this hardware hacking!

my list of excuses: i don't own a camera,
i had to order some new dremel cutting discs
work has kept me busy, a girl has occupied my weekends and many weeknights
i've been a little sick, the election sent me into a manic episode
aaaaand so on.

i'd say i'm 1/2 done, maybe the harder half.

i actualy have been and find it funny seeing how 2500 is basicly what the mpc 1000 users are modding there mpcs to be like.

if u wanted bigger pads and flip screens BUY THE MPC WITH BIGGER PADS AND FLIP SCREEN!!!( i did) i had the black 1k

They are cheap these days i traded a old stock 2000xl with floppy and 200 cash for my 2500 MAJOR UPGRADE:..and sold my mpc1000

.point is mpc2500 used are going for a few hundred more then the black 1000 i seen 850 to 900 for a 2500 and 650 to 700 for the black 1k...

you dudes are more worryed about software upgrades and modifications to your mpcs then making music.......plus u are risking damaging ur mpc if u arent a experianced in the feild.

just my .02

not to join the attack, but really... that's not the point. he's modding his 1000 because he can. why pay money for a 2500 when you can freak your 1000 any way you want?

oh, and I'm not going to put too fine a point on this here, but notice your username... and the fact that you SOLD your 2Kxl..... :P

Zactly, It's not all about big pads and flip screens, (Nym is not even using a flip screen :? )
For me the reason to mod would be big pads and ergonomics, I want the pads to be placed all the way to the left side which is the reverse of how the pads are placed on the 2Kxl. Plus the custom unit will still be smaller than the 2500. Didn't you read how Nym is creating an audio breakout box and all kinds of stuff for his. Saying that just buying a 2500 is a solution means that you have not been following this thread.

Anyway, why do people care how another guy wants to modify his equipment? He's just making his stuff work better for how he works. In this case you would only know how you would want your gear modified from extensively using your gear to point that you would know how you could work better, faster, stronger... 8)
