triggering MPC from pro tools

ok, so i transferred a sequence that i programmed on the MPC into pro tools(PT) as midi data. So now i have the midi data on PT triggering the sounds from the mpc, and all is good. The only problem now is that the notes i entered on the mpc using the 16 levels(note var), are not being played back correctly - only the original note is played. when i play the sequence from the mpc it plays back fine. but i want to trigger the midi sequence from pro tools and have it play back the same way.
I've searched a good bit and have not found an answer. I'm sure if i reprogrammed each (16 levels)note variation onto it's own pad that it would work, but i dont want to use up that many pads on a program. I prefer to use 16levels and only take up one pad. is this possible? If so, can somebody tell me what i'm doing wrong? thanks in advance for any help. peace.

Well it seems like you answered the question yourself. You will indeed have to reprogram 16 level note variation on its own pad. If you are worried that u don't have enough free pads in your program then make a new program for the notevariations (you can used up to 4 programs simultaneously in one sequence)

so there's definitely no getting around this? If I want to work this way i should avoid using the 16 levels feature that i've loved for so long? I really hate to see it go.
also i want to start using mpc editor, so if i get into spreading sounds across several programs, i'll have to save as an .APS file on the mpc - which i don't think is recognized by mpc editor. any other suggestions or workarounds that would still allow me to utilize the 16 levels? basically all i want to do is edit and arrange the midi data graphically in pro tools instead of creating a billion sequences on the MPC

Yo, I feel your pain. Perhaps it would be easier to lay audio rather than midi. For example, instead of transferring midi from the MPC to PT, then using the MP like a soundbank, do it the other way. Lets say you have a basic 4, 8 or 16 bar seq. in the MPC. Just multitrack the audio to PT. Only track the 4 bar sections (or whatever length) that have real changes in them. No need to track another sequence that has a double saner in the last bar, or some minimal drum flip or something. Then, copy/paste/arrange, etc. in PT. Unless you are really focused on doing virtual midi mixes inside all your components, you should track the audio to PT. I know it takes up tracks, but it will save you a pantsload of hassle. If you don't use MTC to slave the MPC to ProTools, just go to MPC Studio Environments. Myself and several others have posted this topic.

thanks for the help. I took your advice but i think i'm still missing something. I now have the note vars on seperate pads on a new program (DRUM2). However now when i play from Pro Tools it still plays the sounds on program 1 even though I have the new tracks on the mpc set to DRUM2. Is this where a program change message comes in or do i have something else set wrong. The bottom left of my mpc screen reads S:DRUM1:OFF PROGRAM NAME
(or2 repectively).

ntalec - i tried your suggestion but without much success. maybe i'll try this again in the future, but for now I already reprogrammed the notes on a diff program. thanks though. peace.
