Peace to you all..

First up, I'd like to say that I've being lurking this forum for a while now and through searching and browsing I have managed to bring back to life a helpless neglected and sick 2000xl that was on the verge of dying.

I reparied her fader, gave her the 8 outs, maxedout her mem and exchanged her love slot for a CF drive.. all thanks to the knowledge on these boards..

As you can tell i have become emotionally attached to this machine, wifey on the other hand
shares a different opinion..

Now! an offer has been presented to me which makes me my question my morals.
so i'm in need of advice, so my question for yall is, would you swap an XL for a new 2500?
and why would anyone want to?

Peace

i wouldnt. i have heard about bugs and problems with the 2.5k.
keep the 2k and save up for a used 1 k. thts wat i plan on doing---only b/c i love the 2kxl and would never ever sell it.

and from my understanding, the 1k can pretty much do everything the 2.5k does with the exception of the ketcup dispenser.

then again, ive only had the opportunity to play with the 2k. do some research. if the 2k doesnt give u what u need, u may need to switch it up.

i thought that akai would of solved these problems by now or that installing the jj os would
fix theses issues..

same plan i've had in mind except that i've never herd anyone offer to exchange their 2500 for an XL, my paro state of mind says that the dude might of damaged something..

yep i've done the research on that, and your 100%, its just the small pads and the non tilting screen that makes it hard for me to consider the 1k

WTF? no ketchup dispenser!! AKAI can lick deez nuts..

its the mute groups / pad cancelation (not sure if thats the correct terminology) i know there's a way around it but thats too tedious.

thanks again B

any more opinions are more than welcome

i had stopped playing with my 2000xl and was on the verge of trading it for a 1k but when i started to mess with it in order to see if it was still in working condition i became as fond of it as when i first bought it.

i went to guitar center to look and play with the 1k and while its a really nice mpc something wasnt right. can't really explain it.

then after i put a card reader in the 2000xl i was completely convinced i should keep it.

i still kinda want a 1k though. i'll just wait till it goes down in price or i find a cheap one somewhere.

i dont know about a 25k though. i have played with that as well and it doesnt have enough features to impress me especially with the jj os on cheaper models.

i think the only thing that would convince me to trade is a 5k. but thats an unlikely situation.

the only thing i could see trading it for is becuz of the mute groups and the resampling capabilities/sampling while sequence is playing.

ive never messed with a 2500 but i hear that it is much more stiff than the 2k/xl.

also i wouldnt like to give up the classic jog wheel let alone the xl's to a 2500's.

lets not forget the 64 channels of midi on the 2500. at this time that would be enough for me to trade. jjos will fix any bugs that ever existed. so no worries there. the only real downside to the 2500 is the really rough fealing jog wheel. basically the 25 is the upgraded xl. i would have traded my xl for a 2500 any day. and i reeeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyyy loved my xl. i have a 1k right now and its a good unit. but its not a long term solution for me. so it will be gone soon. i need the 4 midi outs. and bigger pads. these little things are killing me. but ultimately its all about you. if your not comphy with the 1k or 2500 then you should stick with the xl.
