Then we will have real problems and more room for tips than we do now.

I feel what you are saying and I respect that. but being humble goes a long way too. you do have a choice to answer or not to answer, we all have that choice. We all statrted somewhere too. Some people pick things up faster than others. And let me tell you this place would not be what it is today if it was not for newbs. Im new to this forum as well so I guess you can call me a newb too, I have been doing this since 96 im just new to the forum and Im very happy I found this forum., I just wish I have found it sooner. I kinda thought that he had a real problem, so I "CHIMED IN.

maybe the knowledgable heads left because the learned what they needed and moved on to bigger and better things ? who knows ,but I doubt it had anything to do with newbie floodings

I hear you, but perhaps my language isn't conveying what I mean.

I don't want all newbies blocked, just those who are somewhat lazy and want to lean on the forum way too hard.

The quiz would not block all newbies until they are not newbies anymore, but just be a short hurdle that will be educational in that it will tell them the midi/audio thing, and a few ways to answer their own questions quicker.

It should be like Phone a friend or ask the experts on Millionare, you relay on it when you really don't have too many options, not for every question you have or even before you try thinking about the answer.

Many newbies don't deserve that title, I would say the majority know how to get their answers. It is just the few that come here with the attitude of lazyness. So a few basics and some resources will set them straight.

it probably won't happen, but it really should, because this place is in danger of being newbie only, then you'll only have the crappy search feature to read past posts,

It wouldn't be the same without newbies, but it wouldn't be the same without the people who really know the nitty gritty of it. MPC 3000 saved me lots of money by telling me about the tact switches for the 60, I had to order different ones because the 3000 doesn't seem to use the same kind, but I paid 28 cents in stead of 7 dollars each. I got like 56 of them for less than it would cost me to buy 2 from VST. SUre I only really need that once, but that once was really important!! As it will be for those in the future. I've noticed that MPC 3000 doesn't come by here as often as he used to, as well as others, and then I feel like I should come here less, I don't know as much as him, but I do know a thing or two, even about many machines I don't own.

I have learned a lot from newbies, asking simple good questions can get you to re think things and come up with great ideas. I want that, so I do want newbies here, but I want them thinking and coming up with stuff for themselves and us as well. This forum can be obvious and dangerous crutch in that respect, and no one appreciates the is midi audio question asked a thousand times, and it detracts from many things here.

Besides, they will probably learn more by reading the topics in the forums other than the newbie forum (if not reading the manual, or a magazine, or anything) than posting their question in as many forums as they can then only checking back for the answer to their question. THat only takes and contributes very little, so it belongs in the newbie forum. Nothing wrong with that, but that will also get the newbies thinking on question that are ridiculously redundant to those furthering another adgenda on some next shit, which I really like reading here, and I'm sure the newbies who don't take the quiz would benefit from reading it too, but if they want to post on that topic, they can take the damn quiz, or take it to the newbie forum.

I'm not looking to fail anyone, the taking of the quiz should be educational in itself and arm them to get the quiz right the next time. There is nothing stopping them from looking up the answers online while they take it, but that in itself is what they should do in the beginning, and that is the point I have behind the quiz.

SO elma, instead of becoming advance, or expert or vaued member by post, you get your ranking and stripes by what you know and the level of help and support you give and also ask. more llike an assessment. maybe noobs would more thrive to get thier ranking by relishing on the knowledge they have gained, and feel encouraged tp learn more as they see they are progressing, and the lazi as** would remain on thier buts, get frustrated ad end up selling thier mpc, tht thier moms bought for them, at christmas.

a sticky tht says mpc and midi integration. hardsynths and softh syths set up. all u need to know.

all in all i think sin did ask a valid question, bout the cubase thing, and cubase aint tht user friendly, thts why a lot of ppl respect logic. it was designed in tht way to configure hardware with the sequencer, in a more user friendly fashion, over cubase, cause sx is pushing thier softsynth side of things and moving from hardware synth integration. i myself asked sins question about three diff times in the past.
behaviour like tht. also discourages, some from asking questions, when ppl get replies tht are so sinister ( pun)
but i feeling you on that one though,

"i bought my mpc and i cant hear no sounds from the frum the pads, is it broke, i am a noob, help me " question.

Im not here all the time to see what questions are asked so frequently so I just jump in without even the thought. so i guess I understand. But you are right. The quiz sounds good so longs as they always change from take to take. (like not the same all the time). oh well, time to make a beat then eat and maybe I can get some sleep :)
I ve had BEATERS BLOCK (writers block :)) since yesterday.
PEACE

yeah, BB, after almost a year and a half, that shit gets old! and cats didn't used to be this lazy, the people that know brought their game up by playing it.

I wouldn't mess with post rankings, we need something that will be beneficial to the newbies who take the quiz, not just testing them. A tutorial quiz to get through to post on the meat of the forum. Rightnow I have to plaw through so much fat to get to the meat I almost missed this thread! I am getting used to missing stuff, not sure if I'll jump ship, but it is getting to the point where few posts streth my brain, not because know too much, but because all the heads that can do it are too busy answering bullisht questions.

Cubase was designrf for dumbasses (drummers ) logic has one of the steepest learning curves out there, SX is patterned more off logic now, so they lost some of the ease, but if you bought the software, it comes with a manual, quick start, and other shit that will help more than the handfull of cats here that use cubase. That's the lazyness.
