MPC 500 Pitch up OR Pitch down sample while playing on Keybo

Hi I am new with MPC 500 and I have problem, I want to play oneshot sample of piano on midi keyboard connected to MPC 500 but it seem that keys on keyboard works as pad on mpc 500, one key = one sample, but what I want is to play one sound which will change its pitch from root key up and down as actual key (or more keys when I play chords) on midi keyboard is pressed.

Is there easy way to do it? Because as I read original manual, it seems that only way is to assing one sample to all 12 pad in all 4 banks, and then manualy pitch everything up or down, more or less so the final effect is something like one shot sample played on softsampler via midi keyboard with proper lowered or uppered pitch on pressed midi key.

Any help welcome.

Well, you already know the answer i can see. You can save the program once you get it done, and then recycle it for future use.

Damn, no other less time consuming way? :/
Maybe some sw convertion tool?

I tried to copy one sample across all pads on banks A and B, but sudenly all pads were randomly maped across midi keyboard and even changing note numbers in MIDI/SYNC wont change anything.

Extraordinary time consuming, without usable finish.

Come on, there must be easy way to do so, every softsampler had function to play pitched sample across keyboard from start, and akai will not have these function even after I have every pad manualy set, edited, maped?

Be glad that you dont have to do it on an 8-track tape recorder, now that's time consuming

Actualy, making some "beatles like" tape loops could be interresting anyone remember Revolution No.9?

this seems to be one of the old sampler concepts that is now longer in new samplers?

I miss it as well, I would like to use the MPC more like this as a live performance sampler.

I have to make my pitched kits just like drum kits...

Ok, so extraordinary easy solution that I figured it out after only few weeks of trying everything on everything to play pitched samples live
there is an easy way, press sound you want to be used, then pres "12 Levels/Do it" button, change "Type:Velo" to "Type:Tune T: +0" press "12 Levels/Do it" and here we go It could be of course recorded live to sequence without any problems. Only sad thing that you have only 12 pads so only 12 pitch variations and banks A/B/C/D wont help you to go up or down in pitch... Akai! when you could use banks on midi keyboard and all samples go from left side (starting A bank) to right side of keyboard (ending on D bank) without any problems.. why you could not do that with "Tune" live playing mode? Why only 12 pads? Or is there just another easy way to have one sample tuned over more than 12 pads?

Well, this is a drummachine. It is not an ordinary sampler. Just make a program where you pitch everything the way you want it and assign it to the right pads, then save the program and load it very time you need it.

the right name for this is "multisample" - insn´t?
as said before: the little MPC is not a complete sampling engine; it´s not
able to generate multisamples automatic.

Akai please solve this in new os version, what about more pitch variations via ABCD banks, or new JJs could do it for me?

Haha, wont happen! It can do what you want you just have to be patience...... Or get the mpc-4000

Or get an mpc1000 or mpc2500 with JJOS;

You just create a new program of type INST then put a sample on a pad. Done! It's mapped accross your keyboard )
