Sample a few bass notes and filter and/or layer. then I would set the slider to " Tuning " and play the pad containing the bass sample and move the slider up/down til i get the desired groove. worked great and more fun to me then the 16 levels, got good with it too.

Now i just sample a bass sample and loop it and shorten and start and end points til all i get is a contant bass sound, filter and play. this is on my asr 10.

Yup that's what I do on the XL it works good just have to make sure that you leave the slider set to on because otherwise it won't record the sequence you layed down the note will jsut be one note instead of multiple notes.

I have always just used one sample with 16 levels, I don't like to edit 16 parameter and mixing and pitching settings, it's enough with one...

been trying to get this down, still haven't found the right sample i don't think...

I only used the slider for trimming the sample in trim mode.

Shift+slider when marker is on start or end point.

REALLY good feature that made me work really fast with the XL. Miss that on my 3000.

Or you could just sample your Bass into the MPC and tune the note in there...
