Recording songs to a computer

I've just finished a track and, I've tried to record it into Cubase running on a Mac Powerbook, this, using a cable from the output in the rear of the Mpc 2000 to the sound input on the computer.
I've used that through a preamplifier (without it, the sound becomes complete shit), but, in this case the sound becomes not as clear as in the akai, not so good really.
Plus, I have to calculate very precise, the point of the volume that goes out of the akai, I have to do this in order to get not too much noise around or saturation.

Any of you know how to record or export precisely, the songs in the akai mpc2000 to a computer?

You want your MPC to send a nice signal to the computer so I would turn the volume knob up about 3/4 of the way or 75%. Check your levels in Cubase and hit record. That's prettymuch it, if you're getting crackling or muddiness it could be a problem with the outputs on your MPC.

...oh, that sounds more like a crappy audio interface and a lack of recording skills....the mpc is defenitly not your problem, promise...

only trouble is the mpc in slave mode...it´s not really the same groove anymore....

1/8" Audio in on a Mac Powerbook is alot less likely to cause noise than the 1/4" outs on a decade old MPC. Slave mode has nothing to do with this problem.

Are you sure you got everything hooked up correctly, also youll want to get a good external interface if you want to record your work with decent quality, the presonus firebox would be a good place to start, its made to work with cubase, but also works with other daws, and its firewire
