After 3 years of owning my 2500, I have started experiencing problems. I hit [MODE] and a pad and it totally trips out. I cant access the load or save function. If I do get to load a program, I hit pads and the shyt just dont work. It will trigger different samples. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!! This is BULLSHYT! I think it may be an OS problem but, I need your help first. Have you folks experienced this before?

Is it possible that you've got a stuck button - that can happen.

Also, did you try doing a factory reset to see if that helps?

If these don't help, perhaps I'd be tempted to do a fresh re-install of the OS.

Hope it works out for you dude.

take out the ram and operate it on the standard motherboard ram and see if you get the same type problems. Rule out the RAM ya know.

Its not the RAM. I took it out and it's still trippin'. :? It's not the OS (well maybe it is) cuz I couldn't load 1.23 at all! But I loaded JJ OS 3.06, the free OS, but still it will not respond when I hit a pad. The [MODE] button flashes but I hit a pad and it does absolutly NOTHING!!!!! ??? This is PISSING ME OFF!!!!!!! Any suggestions? HELP ME!!!!

I'm about to give up and throw this damn thing out the window! I guess thats what I get for laughin' at everyone who has had problems with their 2500 in the past. I never experienced any problems until now and it seems that there is nothing I can do to fix it. I removed the RAM, CD Drive and the HD... Still NOTHING!!! I hit [MODE] + any pad and it works. Then I hit [MODE] and a pad and nothing. It will work 1 time after I power on but thats it. Any other time it will not work. What the hell is happening?

I think it's down to motherboard problems.

Awwwww.... c'mom Lamp, dont say that! :(

Okay, so what should I try now? Should I crack her open and see if I can find something wrong inside or should I send it off to get repaired? And where should I send it if thats what I decide to do? Is VST the only place?

Try airing off any dust or grime on the motherboard. Clean contacts with contact cleaner (easily found at radio shack) or qtip and small drip of alcohol. Do what you can and keep retrying after every cleaning of different parts to see if you can operate normally on the machine. If the machine operates normally after cleaning a certain part then you know that's what it was.

sorry to hear of this taxman - and i long for the days when mpc's were built like beige-metal tanks

Worst case scenario is sending it to VST for a complete check if you can't get to behave

good luck man

Okay, this is wierd... It's working now but, let me tell you what I did and what you guys think... should I be worried about this or what? Okay, I opened her up and looked to see if there were any disconnected wires or anything that looked out of place. Then, I took the pads off and tried the [MODE] + pads and still, not working without the pads. Since I have the JJ OS loaded right now I turned it off and turned it back on, hit [MODE] + pad 4 (I think) and it had like a pad troubleshooting screen. I laid the pads back on and decided to check the sensitivity of the pads. I ended up bangin' em up real nice to get the 127 level on all pads. Then... I started playing with the [MODE] button again and now, its mysteriously working again. ??? Wonder what it is? What do you guys think? Should I just put it all back together and pray it doesn't happen again or should I look a bit deeper into this? I am gonna get some canned air and blow it out and get some contact cleaner too but, I'm trippin' right now. I want to be happy that it's "fixed" but I also want to know that it won't happen again. You guys tell me what you think. Peace!

Hopefully you get a fix soon....

This is probably obvious, but if you do need to send it away - make sure you do a full back of your HDD so that you don't lose any of your work!

oo maybe you need a new sensor sheet. i've heard of them wearing out after awhile and going fritz. open it up and check out the sticky sheet of black circles under the pads and see if you can tell if something is different than it would be when it was new.

its the gremlins....all MPC's got **** gremlins...i'm telling you man... sometimes you just got to beat the shit out of your MPC and make that **** act properly...ya know? haha...let me stop playing....but truthfully.. i think everyone MPC acts up out of the blue, then suddenly, it seems to fix itself....but worse case scenario....new motherboard for $90.... good luck.
