Hey everybody.
Here is a quick gear list.
G4 DUAL GIG
DP3.11
REASON
RECYCLE
STYLUS ( KILLER SOFTWARE )
MOTIFF 6

I had completed some session work for a client at a ridiculously low price and in return he graciously gave me a Motiff! In passing I had mentioned that a gig I was up for required that a play some keyboard bass and that I was in the market to pick up a nord lead 2. Next thing you know ... BOOM .... in walks Jeff with a boxed up MOTIFF and sustain pedal.

After back & forth "take it" and "I can't accept this" type of bickering he left it on my studio floor and said, "Take it and if you don't want it, return it or the money.

I felt I didn't need it. I USED reason and performer to make beats. SO IT SAT IN THE BOX FOR A MONTH+!

Okay I Know what your thinking. Was I too lazy to take it out of the box. What's wrong with this guy. New gear! We all love gear. Computer snob. The truth is that What I was doing worked for me. I didn't know ...

Anyway the gig came up and I pulled it out of the box, messed with the bass tones( great tweaking interface ) loaded my gear and was off.

I got to the gig and the Keyboard player was like. Yo! That board is bangin. That & an MPC ... set for life. I was like oh ya, you know it. (I didn't know what the heck I was talking about. just wanted to fit in ) I commented that I use reason and performer etc etc... blah blah. He looked at me like ... YOU'LL see.

Well I got home too late that night so I dove into the MOTIFF in the AM. I HAD A BLAST. Once I got through the interface, I was putting beats together faster then ever. Better yet ... I was more provoked to play. Very different then with Performer & reason.

If I was this wrong about using a keyboard for beats then , what about that MPC?

NOW is where I need some input.
I can program pretty quick on the MOTIFF. A week ago I did see someone putting it all together with an MPC and a MOTIFF at another studio. He was cookin' up some stuff. In my head I was like. "another piece of gear to learn.... arrrr ... "

I went to guitar center and purchased the MPC 2000XL loaded with 32 megs of ram. IT will be in the store on TUESDAY 3-25-03. What does the forum think? Will I uncover more I didn't know? Will it be better and different then the MOTIFF sequencer. OR IS IT JUST OVER-KILL. THATS MY QUESTION . "IS IT OVER-KILL?"

THANKS for listening. ANY input would be great
