As for the rest of this thread, you have not done your homework on what the machines do.
You have to do some leg work in order to save money.

exactly what have i missed here...mpc is the machine which makes beats/mpk does same with keys and pads is 1/2 the price but doesnt have the software s0 i hook up teh mpk to my computer and the computer is the software part of my setup.what did i miss?
OK the diffrence between the MPK and MPC is that the MPK is only a controller it contains no sounds or have a harddrive where u can save your stuff, it has no saving options( Ami i right?). If u didnt understand the meaning of "Controller" it means that it can control sounds from any kind of software like Reason, Fruityloops, Ableton or whatever. The MPC on the other side is a machine where u can trigger and record your SAMPLES that is in the harddrive of the mpc, U can record via MPC or a recording software like Cubase. Dunno if the older mpc like 500 and 1000 contains synth but the newest does. So you can use synth in the mpc via the pads or u can simply connect a midikeyboard to the mpc and play from there.
