Mpc 2000xl to ASR 10 midi setup

Ok I have tried so many things and read so many post but i still cant get this to work. Can anyone give me a step by step directions, including what menu items to change, in how to setup the mpc 2000xl to the asr 10 with MPC being the master. I mean I have set it up where i can hear the sounds of the asr on the pads, but I cant record the sounds from the asr 10 to the mpc using the asr's keys. Also when I change instruments on the asr and create a new track on the mpc the previous track on the mpc plays the new instrument instead of the old one. Can anyone please help me!! i am going nuts.

be able to use the keys on the asr
be able to change instruments without previous track of mpc playing the new instrument

If you can't record sequence information when you play the keys that means the MPC isn't receiving that information. Do you have a MIDI handshake going on?

MPC out->ASR in
ASR out->MPC in

Once you have that it's a matter of setting the keyboard to multi mode, I don't own an ASR but I'm sure it's in the manual probably in the MIDI section. If you want to record different instruments on different tracks you need to record different MIDI channels in the MPC.
For example track 1 could be MIDI A:1 and track 2 could be MIDI A:2
You just have to make sure that's how you have it set up in the ASR as well.
Trust me play around a little bit, it's not as hard as you think, check youtube for some tutorials as well for MIDI handshake method.

Thanks for your reply i got it to work.... The trick was to put the asr in Multi mode and not Poly mode.

Sweet I did something similar with my EPS 16+ and MPC 2000 but I didn't use that setup for long since I **** up my EPS OS disk by leaving a cassette tape on top of it for too long.
