Alright guys... 2000xl, 2500, 3000/LE or 4000?

This is probably one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, especially after reading all of the great information and feedback you have all posted on which MPC is best for each particular person. I have used the SP-303 and a turntable for my "production" for a few years, and want to step it up. Mainly because I honestly feel like I have done all there is to be done on my SP (which I love and will never quit using) and the MP is what is getting it done out there or at least more commonly than the SP and F*** it I want one!.. I have narrowed it down to the 2500, 3000/LE and 4000 (F*** me, right?) and luckily dough is not an issue.. It seems after research that the 3000 and I would collab best. But, the 2500 and 4000 seem newer and easier to use. I have pro tools and would definitely use it to track what I do on the MP. I guess the question is, Is the 3000 going to be too limiting for me or will it be all good as long as I read that manual like it'll save my life? I am a drummer. To me, if your drums in your beats and production are whack, just forget about it. The 3000 sounds like it has the drums on lock, Dre, Hi-Tek, Timbo, Dilla, Focus... find some weak drums those cats have done using the 3000. Really, it seems the proofs in the pudding. But is the 3k too old for me? That machine came out when I was 6. It just kind of freaks me out that its such an older piece. You guys might be my last chance... haha anythings helps, sorry for the length, Im dying here. Peace

P.S. I will be adding a midi controller of some sort, along with an SL-1200 and my G5 and pro tools rig, if that helps at all.

Where can I look besides ebay and google shopping for an LE? They seem hard to come by

shiiiiiiit, what you put in is what you get, buuuuuut, the magical low end or knock or whatever that hype is called can be replicated on the 2000xl by layering filtered nad pitched kick under a main kick. basically it's all in the layering if you want your drums to knock. other than compression of course. played with the mpc 1000 compressor yesterday and i prefer layering. i love compressing drums, just not on the 1000. i take it it is the same on 2,5k

and you need good samples. it's not like you'll just fart into the input on 3000 and you'll get a hi-tek kick.

i mean, pete rock can get it knocking on a 2000xl. so it is not the machine, it's you what it's all about.

i'm thinking of selling my le-3.50 o.s., card reader, new pads(black), new backlight. i just have so much invested that i can't see taking a big loss when nothings wrong with it. money talks though

I'd look at which one interfaces nicely into your system/setup. Out of the four you mentioned, two hold that distinction of swapping files to and from your computer via usb.

And if you'd like to take it even further, only one will interface with most of your s/w programs to even further the aiding of editing samples or doing whatever you'd like it to do.

2500 & 4000. But you can use ak.sys with the 4k which will allow you to load, save, transfer and do a few other nifty things from your computer rather than the mpc itself.

real talk here.
its all about mixing and eq-ing.
the sound difference is sooo little between xl and 3k.
i know tons of cats with xls that can bang harder than some dudes with rooms fulll of equipment that dont know how to mix and set filters.
