help 15 yer old n00b with no manual (mpc 2000)

i bought this mpc for 200$ as the seller thought it was broken but all it needed was the boot disk. i figured out how to sample sounds from my computer mp3s,vinyls, and i got to sequence. but 1 ting is bothering me.

is there anyway for when you press a sample for it to not play the whole thing again but cut it. because i chopped up a sample to three parts so i have to tap it and then the sound overlaps and gets very annoying.

so bassicly is there a cut itself function?

its best to chop up samples into little bits but since you seem to be looking for an easier solution...

if you are trying to mute or "truncate" the same sound you go SHIFT+PROGRAM and where it says poly change that to mono and every time you hit the pad it will mute out the first instance and start over. it wont overlap.

if you are trying to mute or "truncate" the sound with another sound you go SHIFT+PROGRAM and when you highlight poly press the orange open window button and hit the pad of whatever sound you want to do the actual muting and below that hit the pad for the sound you want to be muted.

best advice u can get, i tried to avoid chopping into 16s for so long. at first it feels retarded and choppy trying to play the loop but with practice it gets ok.

as for the manual: download it off the net and read it, it will answer most of ur questions u will have in the first month or so.

this is so much better than fruity loops and midi controllers. nothing can replicate the real thing.

true when i first started the smallest i would chop my samples is 4 beats and i wasnt even using zone.

probably the trickiest part of my chopping experience was getting that 3rd beat of the bar because the kick doesnt always hit exactly on that beat. but on beat 1,2, and 4 99% of the time you get a kick or a snare.

actually guys my chops were really small. its just that the way i made the beat the bass would overloop and woould be really annoying its all solved now.

im actually just remaking one of my beats i made through fruity loops. i want to give it that mpc feel.

been producin since i was 13 for me and my friends "rap group"lol . thought it was time to get some real eq as fruity loops make ur beats kinda cheesy

the link i posted for my beat the first time was **** up. please listen to it and give your oppinions. am i good and any pointers.

Keep at it yung'un, listen to Lamp and read the Manual. It will help you get the most out of your hardware.

Oh and by the way, nice hustle on the MP. The dumbass before didnt know it needed a boot disk??............LMFAO
