Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Instead of that, I would recommend just buying some 1GB cards from a reliable Ebay Seller.

Problem with 2GB cards as illustrated in this thread, I purchased the same 2GB card as Konception did, and it did not work at all in my MPC2000Xl with this Card reader. I couldnt even access it to format it in the MPC, and it didn't work if I Formatted it in my PC either.

but my Sandisk CF 1GB card works flawlessly, in addition to a generic 256MB one I also have.

I'm lovin' mine! And I guess I'll take the advice of buying a few 1gb cards. I was interested in a 2gb card but since they dont 'work' I guess it would make more sense to pick up a couple extra 1gb cards.

still waiting and 1gb is alot of space think of it as a hard drive leave it in the mpc untile u see u are basicly out of space then replace it with a new card ...unless u sample whole songs 1 gig is alot..

and i never load samples even when i had a mpc4000 it just slows me down everythings sampled into the mpc so room on a 1 gig should last me long

guess having a floppy caused me to chop small so a gig might last me 300+ beats

ya having the card reader is practically like having internal memory. i wasnt expecting it to be as dope as it is, especially since its not hotswappable but its definitely nice. i was using floppys and sometimes it would be a hassle getting creative with the sounds in order to make them fit on one disk, especially after a long beatmaking session when all i wanna do is turn off the XL and pass out.

now with so much room to save. i can just save long samples, and chop em later on.

sometimes i'll record only drum loops off records, save them in a folder without even chopping them until i actually need them.

just makes the whole workflow faster and smoother i think.

as far as the 1gb cards. the ones i came across on ebay werent really much of a deal after you add the shipping. you might find 2gb cards on sale at the store for even cheaper. but if you google its easy to come across these "overstock" type of sites that have really good deals on used and new 1gb cards. and sometimes you can make them offers. i bought a used 1gb card for 8 bucks and on another site they were selling the same card new for 15 and i offered 8 and they accepted, so i bought 2.

hey guys,

I purchased the CF drive and recieved it the mail a couple of days ago. I installed it using the instructions as well as the pics and am getting a no drive on my mpc screen. I dont have a cf card until tommorrow so dont know if the card has to be in the drive with sounds on it to be recognized by the mp? Im freash outta options at this point. I followed all the installation instructions, and the pics helped as well. Also i know what cards are compatible but want to walk into a store and purchase one tommorrow but my local best buy has 2gb only. Do you guys know anywere else that i can get 1gb cards or anyother brands besides the sandisk and pny brands? I would really appreciate any feedback..

Thanks in advance,

as Stated in the very first post:

This is a walk through on installing a Compact Flash Drive in your MPC2000XL (Not Hot Swappable) but this is the cheapest, and easiest way to get rid of that horrible floppy drive.

Hot Swappable means the device can be on, and a card can be inserted, and it will show up.

NOT Hotswappable (which is the case in this instance) means the CF card needs to be in the device, for it to be recognized.
No card=No device

I have a question for y'all here: http://mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=1 ... 76#p948276 I posted the link so I don't get yelled at for the double post.

BlackImpact wrote:Quick, anyone know if this brand (not necessairily the size but if you can get the 2 gig working, please tell me also) works well with the MPC 2000XL MCD? Also, what brand is it? I know some generic labels use certain brand memory.

I'll buy it. Never know when I'll need a backup. Hit the PM with info if you're selling it.
