:? what's up everyone I need some help not mentally but with my mpc lol. I'm trying to connct a regular yamaha keyboard up to my mpc 500 using midi. the manual says to set the ext clock of the keyboard to ON which it is and the local to OFF, but when the local is off i get no keyboard sounds when i hit the keys just samples from my mpc. It does play back and record with the mpc's sequencer which i want it to do. but when the local is on it plays the keyboard sounds and my samples but doesn't record with the mpc's sequencer. I;m going crazy any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Balian

Keep yamaha's local in off position. The idea is to send the midi from yamaha's keyboard to mpc which in turn directs the midi (wether recorded or not) to any sound module (which in this case is the synth part of your yamaha).

If i remember correctly, mpc's is receiving all midi channels by default. That's why you can play samples with your keyboard. There's obviously nothing new or helpful so far :D

Have you assigned tracks midi channels? If the mpc aint sending no midi, then there's nothing coming out from yamaha either.
