Noise in the background..

Ok so what i do is when i am finished making a beat on my MPC while using Reason as a soundmodul, i record the whole beat to my DAW with my mixer( i got a yamaha nw12). But when im finished recording and want to hear it i hear a noise in the background. Like when there is no sound before the beat starts or when there are only a few sounds. I tried recording on low volume but doesnt seem to help.


Any one know what the problem is?

ok its like this.. for each channel i open in my mixer the level of the noise gets higher. My MPC is connected in to two of the mixers channel.. so the noise is alittle high. Not so high but its high enough that u can hear something when there is no sounds.

In the mixers manual it says that the mixer must be 50 cm away from the adapter, and it is.. but since u say that it may be electrical interferance it must be the other electrical stuff. BTW does the PC count?...

are you running a laptop computer? does it have a 3 prong plug on it? i had the same problem and found out that it was my laptop power supply. you can go and get another one, a 2 prong, for about $20. what i did was pull the ground out from my original power supply and the noise went away.

****if you pull the prong out, or even replace the power supply with a 2 prong one, do not use that power supply outside or anywhere that you or it might touch water. the ground is to prevent an electricity from going anywhere other than in the power supply. if you use the 2 prong outside and contact water, you are the ground, which means you will burn.*****

btw, i am by no means an electrician, but i did speak to one before removing the ground from my power supply. he said that it is fine as long as it stays indoors. they sell 2 prong extension cords and he said it would be the same idea.

the next thing is are you using an external hard drive. the one i use to store all of my ipod music and movies sounds like a space ship revving up for take off when it spins. i found that i couldnt keep it on when i am doing any audio work.

just some ideas outside of the other suggestions.

OK i have to external hardrives next to my mixer... i turned em off but didnt seem to help that much..
I guess its the audio cables inerfering with other electrical stuff..

then you are going to have to do what lamp suggested. start checking all of your gear, one piece at a time. ive had to do it a couple of time and it sucks, but in the long run, you will be happy. also, some gear transmit more noise than others. my ax60 is pretty noisy. you can hear the lfo running when no keys are pressed. same with my filter factory.

you just gotta track it down and figure out what to do to make it stop. have fun!!

turn your WIFI card off..... in my setup, the WIFI card causes noise in my monitors, but not my recordings... for some this may cause unwanted artifacts during recording or mixdown.

I had a stupid noise when using a laptop, narrowed it down to the lap top, but I updated to an iMac once that died and I don't get any problems. You using an adaptor as well? A faulty one caused me sound problems a while back too.
