anyone know where i can get a deal on a 2000xl in london????

i'm soooo annoyed,

just missed out on a decent deal on an MPC2000xl with 8 outs smpte, 32mb and external zip yesterday on E-bay, and now theres not really many good deals going on. I want something now, i've got the hunger!

So i thought after alot of internet searching, i might aswell just get something in the UK if i can find any and avoid postage and customs and all that jazz. Does anyone know of any second hand stores in London (i'm in Kilburn) where i might get a decent deal on an akai MPC 2000xl, preferably in the 350-450 price range (closer to 350 would be great), and if so, any stores phone numbers so i can call 'em. Please, please, please, if anyone has any suggestions, any, hopefully i can find something and pick it up tomorrow.

i'm likely to be selling mine, looking to move to a 2500 soonish - you in a mad rush?

it's 32mb, currently has internal zip100.

I'm in the process of fitting the 8-outs from an S3000XL to it (i've got the wiring side of things sorted, it works- just need to fasten it in completely)

I've also just ordered a flash drive to fit it.

You could try Gumtree they usually got the 1k but now and again you could find an XL for sale. i bought the 8 outs from there (£30)

Funnily enough i called a couple ads from gumtree, but they were all sold already, theres a couple more i haven't tried, but they're both the bright orange special editions and are both over 500, i gotta keep as close to 400 as possible, as i'm on a tight budget after getting some other gear (should be getting an ortofon super OM30 through the post any day now).

the soundonsound link came up with no 2000xls whatsoever!! i can't believe its so difficult to find 'em man, i swear there were loads on e-bay a couple weeks ago, and now nothing.

I might just have to settle for a pricey one from the US with the bloody 100 odd dollar shipping, or a 2000 (as i've seen loads of those). But any more suggestions for sites or stores to check out? Or can anyone point me to a good deal they've seen themselves??

gettin' a 2000xl 32mb, 8 outs, scsi cd rom drive, and original manual, barely used, 330 quid.
Is that an Ok deal? i know i could of got cheaper if i waited, but, i'm impatient.

doubt i'll use the CD drive, but i thought i could use the scsi cord and get a cheap zip drive off E-bay, till i get sorted with the cf card biznizz, and i think thats all i'll need!!!

It's a shame I didn't notice this earlier as I may have let mine go! I fitted the internal card reader about 2 months back, plus it has the effects and 8 output board.

ah its cool, i think this should be good for now (although the one you're talking about sounds alot better) i'm gonna assume you were planning to sell yours for 700-800 quid so i can feel ok about missing out on that.

Off subject, i've read about the purposes of the SMPTE board, and although i have a fair knowledge of music tech, i can't get my head round it. as i plan to probably get a tape recording mixing console, i should get one of these smpte things right? where would i get one, VSTSERVICE?

I'd probably let mine go for around £500... although I will have to look into the current second hand pricing. The one you've bought sounds cool anyway man.

Im in the same boat. Looking for a 2000xl with 32mb and 8 outs. Internal zip prefered but not inportant as I have an external scsi zip anyway.

I saw the 2 SE verions on gumtree as well. The first was PERFECT but the guy said it was sold. I went and saw the second one but it didnt have the 8 outs.

I would LOVE an SE version but I'll settle for a nomal 2000xl as well.
