I know this isn't a ASR10 forum but.....

Anyone got any tips for the ASR? I'm trying to beat the learning curve and it's so different from the MPC. I wish those ASR forums were more helpful, they all pretty much suck. You would think with all the people that use the ASR, the forums would be overflowing with info! Drop the tips!!

If you go through the functions, it ain't that hard really. I got one a few weeks ago and I can do everything I need to right now. If you don't have the manual, you can dl it from the ASR-10 yahoo groups.

Well, I have an EPS 16+, but I guess it would depend on what you have available alongside the ASR. There really isn't a big learning curve to the ASR, it's all in knowing the commands and how to navigate the menus, knowing the essential menus. So, it'd be more like facts I'd give more than "tips". Although I would recommend reading at least very specific chapters in the manual like the first one and the chapter on sequencing. I know it's kinda long, but it's more thorough than you think. You got a mixer and turntable and all that? Where do you want to start with it

yeah man i just got the EPS and your best bet would be just to your way around the machine ,the manual helps alot the ensoniq samplers aren't that hard to learn,but it's not as easy as the mpc, tyr synatur.com they got some videos and books and ish on most of the ensoniq samplers including the ASR

The tutorial that comes with the ASR-10 is a good start...Walks thru all of the major functions in 15-20 minutes.

trial and error works best, but the manual is a close second. Just remember to break everything down into 3 categories: "Load" "Command" and "Edit". Sampling is pretty much self explanatory, but when editing the sample make sure you know what category you're in. In the Command category you can do things like truncate the wavesample, copy it to other keys, and etc. In the Edit category you can make it loop, set your start and end points and etc. Once you get into it it is really quite simple. I, myself, am still learning but it sure is fascinating.

Damn, that's messed up...I wish I could scan and email it to you, but one of my clients never returned it to me after they borrowed it...Do a search online to see if one's available....You might be SOL on that.
