What really scares me is buying the MPC5000 now, then comes Winter NAMM in January, and that's when Akai will drop a new MPC5000 with all the features it should of had and new design. Hope that doesn't happen.

No hate, but I'm gonna look beyond the 5k. I think the next mpc will factor off of what this current model lacks as well as some other things, thus hopefully striking interest from a lot of us legacy mpc users.

Im pretty sure all there gonna do is come out with a MPC5000 Pro or LE. It will be a few years before the next all new MPC6000 is released (hopefully).

Yep...I was gonna wait for a good OS release so that I can part with my cash, but then somehow along the way I guess I just kinda lost my patience. I think I'm just gonna grab a decent pad controller + Digi's Transfuser and call it a day.

Still think the 5k can be a great machine though. It's just that the reported bugs seem too much to bear.

The majority of legacy MPC users have machines that are far less capable than the MPC 5K. You made numerous posts indicating that the 5K is not the flagship pointing to the superior specs of the 4K. I respect that. In spite of this, the tone of your recent posts indicate you are not happy with your 4K. How come? It doesn't do everything you need it to? Maybe you need an MV for its dancing pixels?

The 5K has only been out 6 months. I think in 6 to 12 months..the next OS will factor off of what this current OS lacks as well as some other things, thus hopefully striking interest from a lot of you MPC 4000 users. If not, then use what you got until the MPC 6000 drops in 2011...or the Roger Linn Machine Drum II when it is released in 2025.

At least you have options....

Regardless they are still MPCs. The sequence & sample. Minus a synth a synth, what more do you expect it to do. I just don't need the 5000.

So you keep tellin' us Chip - That's why you're over on the 5K threads all the time right?

Don't let the door of the 5K threads hit you on the ass as you leave.

Thanks again for all of your inspirational knowledge.
