Step Edit question

how come when i go to step edit screen its blank? shouldnt it be full of my drums and sounds that i have triggered in that sequence? i wanna delete one drum hit in the sequence.....i figure theres gotta be a way to do this instead of redoing the whole sequence? ive messed with the edit and tried subtracting the velocity of the hit but it wont go away completely? this seems to difficult to get rid of one drum hit

Is the main screen set to the right track before you go to step edit?
The "right" track means the one where you recorded the sound you want to delete. Check that.

Also, is the position of your sequencer the same as the location where you recorded that snare you want to delete?
That means, if you hit the pad to trigger the snare when the sequence was at, bar 1, beat 2, tick one, you would have to be at that exact point to see the snare in step edit.
Check that too.

well the thing is in step edit there is nothing there at all..........i guess the better question is, how do you guys delete a sound in a sequence? w/o redoing the whole track over. and. should there be a list of what i have hit, velocity, duration, ex......?

Figure out what sound it is - hit overdub and erase at the same time and viola - no more sound

If your step edit screen isn't working you should take the MPC back

Only because, I think if you look at my other post, those are 2 scenario's where you won't see anything in Step Edit...
If you already knew that and your step edit really is broken I apologise...
But if you a new MPC user like myself, think about it...
If you are on the wrong track or the wrong position in the sequencer, you will see nothing in step edit...
So just move to the right track, and the right position in the sequencer, and then you will see the snare...

If your sh*t really is broken and I'm tellin you what you already know, then I apologise, only tryin to help.

nah man u need to hit erase on what trakc then go down to where it says the pad or note number hit the pad then do it. It will erase just that sound from the track. In step edit if u want to jump from sound to sound u need to press the goto button and the left side arrows next to the slider. My mpc is painted so i dont know what there name is. That will jump u to sounds in that track.

i was tryin to make this way too damn complicated. in the step edit i went to the bar count thing up in the right corner and spun it to diffrent parts of my sequence and it showed what was hit at a certain point in time within the bar. i did this like a thousand times before and saw it but for some reason it wasnt calculating....left for bout 45 minutes came back did the same thing while messin around then it jus clickt. but im coo....

you need to use the find or goto function..basically hold down a button whilst using the ffwd button..more info in the manual...

does that make sense to anyone one else??? haha. i dont follow. o beleive me brutha i been reading this manual so much lately. i should be able to rewrite the damn thing

fair play, unfortunatly im always at work when on this forum so didnt have my mpc in front of me...

there is a goto function...you need to hold the goto button (maybe called called something different- thats what i menat by button- you'll need to check this) and use the fast forward or rewind buttons to find the events....

this will skip any blank step and go only to those with a note or midi event in...absolutly essential for using step edit properly otherwise you spend your whole time scrolling through blank steps looking for notes and midi data...

i cant say much more without my mpc in front of me....

despite this being in the manual loads of people i know missed this function....my mate had been using step edit unaware of this function and had been doing it the laborius way...now onder he never got anything done...
