mix automation between 2000xl and a 16 track

Does anyone in MPC land know how to use a 2kxl to automate something like a 16 track digital recorder such as the DPS 16? I would really appreciate any info people could give me. I know that you can do it and I've read both my manuals, but i can't really get to the root of the problem. I want to be able to use my mpc as the recording device to recall the track volume fader movements on the 16 track as well as the initial snapshot of the song in it's pre play setting- before 0.00.00. Thanks

Did you try and follow what the DPS16 manual explains (p. 139ff)? If so, does the MPC actually record events? What happens if you play those events back?

I think that its supposed to. Im pretty sure that is what the page number is explaining in the dps manual. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has actually done it to unveil some of the mystery behind it.

As been stated a gazillion times before, reading a manual is one thing but without pushing the buttons while reading you'll never understand you gear to the fullest.

Sorry...I was under the impression you had a problem getting it to work and asked for help with it...wait...hey, you did!

So I would suggest you stop pissing on peoples legs, and show some initiative by trying a bit of work yourself first. You will hardly find somebody who will explain a manual to you in easier words.

If I wanted to argue online I would have joined a chat room. It's a shame that every so called producer out there has such an inflamed ego that all they can do is re hash bull they've heard real producers talk about. There's no need to tell me to read the manual. Im wondering if it's even worth doing. If youve ever read a manual by akai you'd know they are notorious for being some of the worst in describing anything but procedure. Im asking for some real life application, and I must be asking the wrong people. Seriously, if you haven't done it then don't reply to me! I'll try not to piss on your legs, but if your mouth is gonna be open i'll just piss there.

I really don't understand why you get so worked up, we suggest you to try out the procedures explained in the manual and see how that works out.

Roughly said it boils down to this:

I guess that your 16 track recorder has a midi out port through which it sends midi data the moment you move faders and or dials on your recorder. Now you connect a midi cable from this midi out to one of the midi in on your mpc and record this data on a track of your sequence.

Now to reproduce this data on your multi track recorder you must connect a second a midi cable from the midi out of your mpc to the midi input on your multi track recorder.

If you now play back the sequence you just recorded then your multi tracker will respond to the midi data it receives from your mpc.

For the fine technical details I really suggest you to look in your manuals of your mpc and your multi track recorder.
