Reading folders from CF card alphabetically

hey everyone...

i was wondeing is there a way for the mpc to read the folders and files from my cf card in alphabetical order? for example i have these folders on my cf card with these names...

1. Beats
2. Samples
3. Other

I'd like so that when I go to the load function and the folders show up so that the Beats folder always shows first, then Samples, then Other. Also i have many other folders within these that Id like to show up ordered - and I have numbered them too in the hope that the mp will order them...however when i accessed the load function, the folders are ordered randomly (seemingly - or they may be ordered according to something else - eg last modified, folder size? im not sure)

is there a way for me to achieve this?

EDIT: i was a bit premature on that one lol

this woulda solved my problem if the program worked and didnt keep freezing on me. i think that program is a bit outdated it says its made for Windows98.... works fine for the first couple of folders then freezes. are there any other modern programs that will do the same trick?

I've also been irritated by the lack of a consistently alphabetical hierarchy in the sample edit screen and when browsing the mem card.
Added it to the wish list.

word, inconsistent as shit. half the folders are ordered half aren't whats the deal with that?!

It sure is weird and it can drastically slow down the work flow. For instance if your got multiple copies of the same sample edited differently in the memory ( IE: groove1, groove2, groove3, etc. ), and when they are spread out and not in sequence in the selection field you end up spending an extra minute or two scrolling back and forth through every sample trying to figure out which one is the one your looking for and where the hell is it.
In the sample edit field I think they are approximately grouped together by what sample pad they are assigned to. But its only close, not even exact, and is probably one of the worst concepts I've seen for navigating through a bunch of selections in the first place.
The CF card is almost alphabetical, but its in chunks that split at different points in the alphabet, IE: h-z then A-g. And since you dont know where its gonna split and start over from, you end up having to scroll through almost the whole list anyway. It kind of works when you get near the letter your looking for, but you wont know if that letter will end up being to the left or to right.
This is especially a problem for me because I like to use a sh_tload of samples in my projects, old PE / pauls boutique style. And like your storage folders I keep about 200 rough trimmed breaks in a library folder on my CF other than my current project folders.
If Akai is gonna make a machine with enough storage and memory to have sh_t loads of samples, it would seem that a primary function should be an effective way to navigate them.

have you actually tried this yourself and can confirm that it works? cos i downloaded it, tried it out and it still doesnt sort my folders alphabetically

yeah it works great you have to open the drive whatever letter it may be and go to sort and then save.

it works it works!!! massive props on this, now i wont have to wait for the os update.
the reason it didnt work earlier was i didnt know you had to save it. two thumbs up
