On the MPC 1000 JJ i know if you have the BPM of a sample you can time stretch it regardless if you have set the start/end point and dialed in how many bars. On the XL from what i have read in the manual it requires you to say how many bars the sample. My question is if you sample 12 odd seconds knowing there is 3 or 4 samples you can make into 1 and 2 bar loops can you just dial in the new BPM and have the time stretch effect the whole sample correctly or have to sample in each 1 and 2 bar samples and time stretch separately ?.

what is exactly a 8th note ?, cool i though that was the case it cool though on the 1k you dont need to set and start/end points just find the BPM and the whole sample is now at the correct speed.

its half a beat. just make sure your sample starts and ends to a point where itll loop fine. an eighth note is half a beat. but anyway the 2kxl will give you the bpm of the sample if you have it trimmed on beat and then put in how many beats it is (in the trim screen go to params) and itll give you a bpm readout. now go back to trim and hit edit>time stretch>bpm and then set a new bpm and itll stretch it to whatever you put.

Thanks eastcoast121, also if i sample in something thing a double speed and detune the sample to the original time i the trim screen will the sample preview at the newly tuned rate or the original sampled time ?.

Its just it would be hard trying to loop a sample at 2x speed.
