So a month ago i walk into guitarcenter and i see an mpc 2500. I start playing around with it then i notice the price so i said to myself im going to trade in my 2000xl, in which they gave me $300 in exchange and i put it towards the 2500 which seemed pretty new. I really enjoyed the stock sounds so i put the 2500 on layaway the price was actually 899. so a month later i come in to pick it up and face one of the biggest tests in my equipment purchasing history. here i am staring at a mpc4000 with some soft pads for 1200 and my 2500 hundred which i believed had a memory card but the guy at guitarcenter said that the card was gone. so what would you do add the difference to the 899 and get the 4000 or keep the 2500. now heres another catch i get home and reanalize the 2500 and i notice it has no scraches or blemishes and i noticed i has the cd option was installed with 128mb and a 80gb hard drive and thats where the stock sounds were. so now what would you do get jjos or go back and get the mpc 4000 please let me know and also is it possible to get soft pads like the mpc 4000. :?

Tough Call, 4000 vs. 2500 w/ JJ.

I mean it really all depends on if you really want/need higher ppqn resolution and 24bit sampling. Me personally, I'd probably just stay with the 2500 and add JJ os 2.

That is a very hard decision.

I love my 2500 and with the JJOS2 this thing is a beast. The work flow is just beautiful. :D

I have played around with a 4000 but you know, that doesnt really count.

Me personally, I would go with the 2500 but thats just because I have always wanted since its release but now I got it.

Both MPCs are sick though. The best in the Akai line.

i dunno what more anyone could say. ultimately its your research on the two machines, and what you value in a machine. i can safely say the 2500 provides me with more than enough to get my job done. the 4k would not be up my alley. maybe its up yours?

What are you gonna be using it for? Do you need the added functionality of the 4000. If you're just building beats/slicing and dicing loops then the 2500 with JJ is probably gonna be more than enough.

That Motif XS you got there is pretty damn hot for making beats - those sounds are sweeeeet!!!

4k is better than the 2500 even with jjos. z series sampler at 24bit. 960ppqn resolution. keymapping. has all the old terminations plus the new ones. youknow like scsi and usb. cd burners are standard as well as internal hard disk's. plus 6 banks instead of four. 128 track sequencing. if your gonna have a 2500 with jj you should just have a 1k with jj. for less money at that.

To make a decision such as this, I'd go for the 2500 without the jj os. But that would only happen if I smoked some of that thousand dollar weed or some sh!t and/or was out of my mind.

4k for life baby...

Since I'm on the night shift and bored out of my gourd, I figured I'd bump this thread and see how you feel about your decision!

okay well i did take the 2500 hundred back and now have the 4000 its funny im on the night shift too but yeah im just trying to learn it like the back of my hand so far its no as hard as people say it is but im sure i have not even grasped 10 percent of it but i like it so far i bring the manual to work to familirize myself and delve deeper and there is no looking back now
