New to MPC1000 - JJOS?

About to get an Mpc 1000 and heard loads about the jjos software?

Can anyone tell me what this is? and where to get it? i googled it but just get posts about how good it is?! is it a free download?

Also can the MPC1000 do 12-bit sampling like the s900 and mpc60? for that grungey sound??
