MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I just purchased the MPC 5000, just got home from Sam Ash Music. I am so excited. I think I got a real good price, $2200 out the door. I am ready to rock & roll. I am going to go through the manual before I fire this baby up. I am old (57) but I make up for it, I am slow as well.

Wish me luck.

See, perfect example, you're never too old for this stuff. Congrads on your purchase.

Hey PJ, Also Congratulations from me to man!

Remember to upgrade your firmware to 1.02 (if it's not already), grab it from here: http://www.akaipro.com/mpc5000

Yup, that sounds like a great price!

Enjoy!

Thanks folks, I really appreciate the welcome. I have already started to read the manuals. I am already thinking expansion to include the CD drive and of course memory board. I have only had it a couple of hours and already thinking possibilities.

LOL , when I saw my mans age, I thought to myself and said, "wow, this stuff ain't only for the spring chickens, it's hitting everybody".

Which brings me to say...I just celebrated my 46th bday this past week, but I've been in the game since the dawn of time (early eighties).

And I still don't feel like quitting no time soon.

PJ you have any questions on the 5k? The manual is straight forward...

You folks are outstanding! I am so happy to hear from everyone. I feel good about this forum with you folks making me feel so welcome at my age.

I have to tell everyone, right out of the box I was bang'in the beat on the pads. I cannot believe that I can do this, it is great. I am sure it is nothing like what you folks are doing but for me it is great. I like all types of music from christian contemporary to hip-hop. I am a rocker from the 60's so I am always ready to rock.

I am so into this! I am continuing to read the manual and work examples out of the manual. I hope to soon be putting together a track or two and maybe post them on You Tube. Won't that be something!

Thanks folks for your acceptance and offers of help.
