Saving Akai CD to the 4000

Whassup, I have a bunch of sample CD's that are Audio/Akai format. I was wondering if there is a way I could save tke Akai Programs to the 4000 so I won't have to keep the CD in the 4000 all the time?

Simple either drag into your hard drive from Aksys on main computer or save the programs into a folder along with a mulit. All this is in the manuals for 4k and Aksys so download now and read up.

Now heres the problem when I tried to drag it with Akai Sys all it let me do was load it into the memory. It wouldn't let me save the Akai files. The Akai CD's are weird too because when I put it in my computer it only registers as an Audio CD.

I doubt if this has anything to do with your delima, but what version of the OS are you using?

i upgraded to OS 1.71 from 1.45 30 minutes later. I haven't tried it since though.

You may have to save your samples from your CD to your computer`s desktop first then do the next steps.

First highlight your hard drive on the 4k and create a subfolder from the options. Name the subfolder and drag the programs and files to your new subfolder no problem.

Like dabmeister said follow your upgrade and please break out the manuals the answers in there.

well they are not "wierd", they are formatted in Akai's proprietary disc format, rather than the more usual ISO CD-ROM format.
Microsoft Windows cannot read Akai's format directly, but Google will find you programs that can...

And yeah, for some reason, Ak.sys only lets you copy things off your PC to the MPC4000's RAM memory, and then you have to save them to the MPC4000's hard drive in a second step.

This is true about the format. Your options are to either load everything into RAM on the MPC and save... or much easier is to use computer software that can read akai disks and transfer everything over to the MPCs disk at once. Extreme Sample Converter, CDXtract, Awave, Translator to name a few.

This sentence is correct if you replace "PC" with "MPC's CD-ROM". I'm sure that is what he meant, you can copy content from your PC to the MPC's hard drive, a very great feature (although slow with big copies).

yea i got me a copy pf cdxtract and converted it to s5000/s6000 format... it worked out fine
