First off, I'm Tim, just signed up am about to buy an MPC when dough comes through. I am obviously new to this with the beginner level of my question.

Anyways, I don't have any equipment what so ever and i can get a 2000 or 1000 for the same price. I don't have a turntable or any vinyls, YET! My question is. Can i pull samples straight off my computer with the MPC 2000? As far as I know you can with the 1000, so would it be a better choice if I bought the 1000.

Thanks for any help that is givin' to me, I am dead set on getting an MPC as soon as possible, so please don't try and talk me down. I hope to become friends with a number of you in the good time I will be on this forum.

Thanks a lot
Tim,

Welcome aboard Tim. Now to answer your question about interfacing a 2k with your daw, no, not in the same fashion as the 1k or any of the other current model mpc's.

I do know of external programs that work with the legacy mpc's (midi maybe), but not in the same fashion as in the comp being the host.

The 2k or 2kxl don't have usb.
