when i used to dig neva really spent more then 20 but i got to a stage where my eye/ear for music became such that most of the stuff i was finding was not suitable for my taste in sampling.

im more focused on the end product now rather then the diggin sometimes u can get losty in finding the rare **** i just spend the little time i have after work to focus on actually flipping the sounds available and listening to what i got rather then searching for new dig spots cos ive been thru that phase **** no longer appeals.

trust no matter how much time u spend out there for certain someone has found that reacord and flipped something off it bare in mind there are dude like d.i.t.c, pete roc, madlib, supreme and the like been digging for 10-15 years even 20.

listen to deep crate and all them record diggers that source vinyl like kon and amir they dig for a livin trust they found all that **** its been used dont decive urself.

the trick is using what u got and putting it together in novel ways and putting sounds from different records toigether to create tones and vibes that resonate with ur style and that u like.

True but not true. The beauty of crate digging and sampling is differences of taste. Two people can see the same thing and do two different things with it. There has been times when I went to the record store with my brother and seen a record that I passed on and he took and made ill shit with it. Thats hip hop. Everybody expresses themselves differently well at least that is the point. Pete rock and Madlib are both diggers but they probably just have different tastes so it evens out. It doesnt matter because there are common records that havent been used. It just depends on what you are into and your ear and love for the music. If you buy ordinary records that are the norm more than likely that is how the beats will sound. But if you buy records that have an interesting sound that fits your style thats how your beats will be. Interesting and have a unique style.

If you can't walk into any record store in the world and find something you like, you have no appreciation for music. You certainly have no business being a dj/producer, let alone selling music.

^ word. And to add to that if your gonna take another artists material and chop it into pieces and call it "yours" when your done with the beat, at least pay for it....dang...most of these new cats that claim "producer" are lame man

as mention i have been diggin in record stores for 5/6 years found loads of good shit but the stage im at now i still love beats but dont love spending money on records so i take my search for music online cos then i aint limited by my miniscule budget.

if u wanna spend time in record stores doing thru dust records more power to u ive grown out of it respest to peep that still do it but i aint making a career off beats so its not feasible to spend my time and moeny on that no more.

hence the reason i use whatever is availablew on line, or from the 100 or so records i got left over from my diggin days.

so defo all about flipping samples but im on that free shit cos the shit im getting on-line i could not afford if i found them in the shop.

plain and simple diggin aint for EVERYBODY, IT TAKES SOME ONE WITH HEART TO KEEP AT ITPLAIN AND SIMPLE

i dont think it matters at all to the art of beatmaking or the "status" of "producer" if you paid for your source material or not... do whatchulike... just remember, that digging isnt about paying $20-$30 for recs, lots of heat can be dug for less than a buck... the time is where the biggest investment in digging is imo, and i aint trying to tell anyone how to choose to spend their time...

thats wassup thanks to modern tech dudes can apply the same grind learned from digging to on-line diggin and expand whats available so cant really turn a blind eye to that plus if its free then there is no limit to the amount of records u can try out so it just means more music exposure.

my 2 cents that has probably been said earlier in this thread.

"Diggin" is a waste of cash if all you're doing with them is sampling.

i enjoy listening to mp3's just the same as vinyl but obviously there is a novelty factor of spinnin wax

dudes is dumb cos i got records that i sample i aint from a dj background but respect the art form, but i get more rare shit on-linr then i could afford to buy.
