bought the 4000 the other day :-)

yep, finally bought the beast!
Im a long time mpc user, my first mp was the 2000xl, it died on me, after that i got the mp1000 that i hated, i didnt like the sound or the pads. so i sold it and became a fulltime ableton user.
There is nothing you cant do in ableton, to me its the most complete piece of software ever, but it dosnt inspire me.
So now i got the mp4000 hooked up with midi to ableton controlling all my soft synths and i love it. Im home again!
And it has the adat board

Are you sure about that statement? I can think of a ton of stuff it doesn't do(uhmmm... sysex).
But first and foremost.

Load Up Ableton. Creat a great song, then save it.
Then hit File --> New and make another great song. And Save it.

Now load up both songs together, as you saved them and switch between the two, as one
would do with "Next Sequence" on an MPC. ... As far a I know, you can't?

You can bring all the samples in from the second song and recreate it, but you can't take 2 pre-existing saved
songs/sets and switch between the two of them.

Even back in the day of using Master Tracks Pro on the Mac Plus, you could take 2 pre-existing songs, and switch between them.


But Welcome to the club! Remember, not only can you control your Ableton's softsynths from the 4000, but you
can also trigger and sequence Live's "clips". So you can use the 4000's pads to trigger on and off any of the
samples on Ableton, as well, as not even use Ableton's sequencer and use the 4000 sequencer, along with things like
Note Repeat, to sequence the triggering of LIve's clips solely on the 4000.

There was an Ableton + MPC thread about to develop recently which I was looking forward to. Appears to have sunk without a trace due to a lack of contribtions.

I will try to ressurect it!

haha, nah, im not letting this one go, so far im loving everything about it. just got the access virus disk in kontakt format and used translator to turn it into akai format, so now i have 4gb of virus multis and i still got about 100 gb on my drive.
and i dont really find the 5000 appealing.

ur right, the multiple window thing kan even be done in reason, i just realized something today, ableton is grat for creating somgs in, but for tracking from the mpc or other hardware for that mather, its not as good as lets say logic, those damm warpmarkers move things...
