There never was a MPC made by Roland, only Akai made them.

Okay, let me break it down to you bud because you are lost!!! The MPC 2000xl was, is and has only been manufactured by AKAI. There were different models produced such as Lampdog's SE3. There were also 2 other 2000xl models... the SE1 and SE2. Do a bit of research man. Google is cool! Roland manufactures the MV8000 and the MV8800. They are similar products but still different nonetheless. The fellas here are giving you a hard time and you're falling right into it. I'll admit, i was laughing too. But do some research dude. Google and Youtube are your friend. Peace.

There is this forum called www.mpc-forums.com, good fun and mighty informative, and then there is the manual, apparently the unread version is the one to go for since in contains all the answers to most noob questions.

I know Roland makes the MV8000 and Akai, which I'm pretty sure is part of Sony, always made the MPC.
But, you know -- like car manufacturers do this all the time, where Mitsu Elipse is also the Eagle Talon, and the plymouth something-or-other. I thought the MV8000 was just the mpc-4000 with a different sticker.. am I wrong?


I almost got a Boss MPC 2000xl on ebay for like $140 the other day, but it looked like a cheap plastic version so I passed.

My Roland MPC has a flux capacitor, and it runs at 1 point 21 Jiggawatts! The newer models have upgrades that allow them to be powered by garbage. Unfortunately the beats have to be set to 88 BPM for you to take your ish to the next level!!
