I'm just saying....impressive collection of gear (reminds me of myself in my youth)..but that telephone? Having a vintage MPC is one thing but a vintage telephone? You are on some Alexander Graham Bell-sh!t.

(I'm just playing...nothing mean spirited intended)

It was the bear costume or a fly cordless, and he went for the bear costume!!!

Only joking man... you've got the kick ass studio.

Did you ever cop that Open Labs Neko - I'm sure I read in another post you were looking at it.

It looks good, but I've not managed to try one yet.

Is there any set limit with polyphony on that thing?

I don't think it's overkill at all...would anyone say Dre has too much equipment for what he does? Now, don't put words in my mouth and say I'm comparing Bomb to Dre, cause I'm not- they're two different people. My point is: It's all music. Would you fault a mechanic for having a deep toolbox in his shop? I wouldn't. There's nothing wrong with a musician having choices of audio tools in the studio.

If the mechanic had 100k worth of tools but was only capable of changing tires, then yes, I would fault him and also say it was overkill.

Haven't got a Miko. Just checking it out. Lil Jon was talking about using mimik to get all his board sounds in to the Miko, and I wanted to know who's tried it and how well it is. Interesting concept. If I worked 100%, it would be cool. I could get rid of some of my gear. (But, would I really do it???)

check out a program called sample robot. Does the same exact thing!

Bomb Beats,

check out the link below. Screw paying all that money for a miko.

skyline sample robot (http://www.esi-audio.com/products/samplerobot/)

I use to use this program alot back in the day until american musical.com caught on to what I was doing.

I would purchase a sound module from american musical using the payment plan. Then I would Sample all the presets. Then send it back before the 45 day return was up.

Keep in mind that the sample files can be huge, so you wanna make sure you have alot of drive space.

sovern,

the mimik software and sample robot software does the exact same thing! It clones your hardware presets. YOu can set the parameters to how you want: velocity, layers, add vst effects, etc etc....

How long did it take to sample a whole sound set of a keyboard?

Depends on how you set the sample rates, and other parameters.

I sampled the regular motif, it took about an hour. Im sure its the same with the mimik software.

Good thing is that once u set everything, u just hit record, and leave it alone until its done. Thats what I loved about it.

if u go for the mimik software, just double check to see if it has automated sampling. If not, dont pay for it. Just get the sample robot program instead and install that into your miko.

I always sampled the presets. no effects. 24bit.

I always had a fast computer. one preset would take me about 3-4 mins with the way i set my parameters.

alot of things can come into play if you have a slow computer too with slow drives.

the entire motif keyboard, it came to about 340mb worth of sounds. Took me about an hour and a half. that was the fastest... The motif sounds are clean, so I sampled at 16bits.

I have alot of other stuff too.. triton, jv1010, mdc-1, mc505, and alot more...

Sample robot is not the only program like that. There's more like it. The key, is to find one that does automated sampling. That way your not sitting there for hours marinating in that hot ass studio   ... just kidding man...

but Check out http://www.kvr.com look up sample robot, then click on the part where it says similar software.....
