Nope! The 5000 is a phrase sampler only. That's the reason it can't support S-1000 or other multisampled libraries. If you want to play anything remote realistic outside of drum and phrases you're pretty much screwed.

A $2500 an no multisampling or keygroups. After extensive market research Akai knew you would want it that way.

The MPC 5000 has 4 MIDI outputs. They are not there for decorations. You can MIDI it to any hardware keygroup-type sampler as well as software-based ones..or one of the numerous keyboards/sound modules on the market. For every producer you can name with commerical credits that use an MPC/MV that has keygroup type sampler built in, I can name 2 or 3 that uses an MPC that doesn't have a keygroup type sampler.

For the record, my Fantom G ($2500) didn't ship with multisampling. That came later in an OS update.

Stop trying to dodge the issue. What music I make has nothing to do with it.

The 5000 is phrase/drum sampler and incapable of handling anything beyond that.

.....just concede the point already.

You don't own S-1000 CD Roms nor to you acutually create multi-sampled instruments.

What you do know is that you don't and you're not...and that's for damn sho!!!

Dodge the issue? It has been established a long time ago that the MPC 5K is a phrase sampler.

I usually don't challenge people about their music...but you? I would love to hear what you do with those keygroups. Just hit me up via PM so we can get this thread back on track. I promise I won't laugh at your music.

Why should I choose the MPC 5000.....

1. 20 voice synth w/ approx 70 adjustable parameters
2. 8 tracks of hard disk recording + up to 64 continuous sample tracks
3. 960 ppqn sequencer w/ Swing, Strength, Window, Shift Timing parameters
4. 64 external MIDI channels w/ MSB/LSB settings per track
5. Can add a different instrument (synth/sample program) to each track
6. 32 channel multi-timbral mode
7. 10 channels of digital audio transfer to a DAW
8. 11 filter types w/ full ADSR, slectable 2, 4, 6, or 8 pole slopes
9. Arpeggiator can be assigned to each track
10. Velocity, cycle, random sample switching
11. Automation - internal and external - send MIDI CC messages using Q-links
12. 4 buss MFXs w/ 2 FX per buss (50 FXs ranging from vintage compressors to a resampler) + Master EQ/Compressor routable to 10 outputs + FX busses can be linked
13. Import/export 24 bit hard disk tracks
14. Off line timestretch and pitch shift w/ 18 presets each
15. Track and Pad Mute automation
16. UNDO/REDO while sequencer is playing
17. Chop Shop 2.0 w/ Patched Phrase
18. Grid and Piano Roll editors
19. 16 velocity sensitive pads w/ aftertouch
20. Autochromatic assign of samples for playing melodies

This pretty much sums up the core features of the 5K.

No reason to close it because if he's like some other people on here after having it about a month will try to sell it every other week on eBay, just to find out no one is interested.
So he may still be interested but now be wondering why did I choose the 5k or why I am stuck with even at a chaep price..

Amazing how quickly some people abandon a piece of gear yet try to say they knew how to use it.

I will replace my triton extreme with an M3 late Feb when I get back home. I'm excited about it.

The price of new M3s are dropping.

I'll still end up with one, big prices don't scare me, small prices are cool, but big prices don't scare me.

I've never been to the mv nation forums but if they flame for speaking bad about a product, that's not good
ALL products has something that someone out there won't like, that's normal.
