Trying to record beats to my computer

I DONT WANT TO BE BASHED I WANT TO BE HELPED PLEASE HELP ME NOT BASH ME.IM NOT BEING LAZY I WOULD CALL M-AUDIO OR AKAI BUT IT'S SUNDAY AND THEY ARE CLOSED!

I have an Mpc2000xl mcd,an M-audio fast track pro usb,and a stanton mixer...Maybe i have it all hooked up wrong but i dont think i do....im trying to record into wavosaur and i have no clue what i am doing...

My fault...well now im using [audacity] and not wavosaur...my connections

mpc-midi out to...
fast track pro interface-midi in

then

mpc-right and left audio cables "record in" to...
fast track pro 1&2 outputs

I dont know if i need to use midi/sync on the mpc or not

Hi Mate,

According to your thread title, you are trying to record the beats from your mpc to your computer right??

you stated that the connections you made are "mpc-right and left audio cables "record in" to...
fast track pro 1&2 outputs"

If you want to record the beats OUT of the MPC and INTO the computer, the connections have to be

MPC right and left audio cables - RECORD OUT not record in and have to go into the fast track pro INPUT

Yes, as he said. You got it the completely wrong way around, also the MIDI. But forget about the MIDI until you have several different machines to record simultaneously. Not needed for now.

No. MIDI is for MIDI, audio is not MIDI.

Using MIDI to synchronize your MPC makes sense as soon as you need to sync several devices while tracking, or you want to track your beat in several passes because you don't have the 8 outs with a corresponding audio interface. But you can record without that just as well.

mpc audio main out -> fast track audio input = AUDIO into pc.

So basically your saying all i need to do is hook the necessary cables up(midi/audio cables) and start recording and i will not need to do anything else besides record track by track?...im so confused...I have came across so many different answers...on google/youtube/and mpc-forums....

Because there are a few different ways to do this depending on what gear you are using.....

Figuring it out involves you reading all those answers, parsing through what fits you and your gear and doing it.
