step edit timing problem

So i'm trying to fine tune a chopped up breakbeat, and when i go into step edit, i have pad A01 at 001.01.01 and pad A02 at 001.02.00. I want to push pad A02 a little ahead of the beat so it lines up, i go into edit then move. I change 001.02.00 to 001.01.093. But what happens is it swaps places with pad A01. So now pad A02 is first in sequence at time 001.01.093 and it pushed pad A01 to second in sequence at time 001.02.00. Where am i going wrong or what is causing this to happen. I'm using a MPC 1000 running the akai 2.12 os.

I think i figured it out, i had to hit window and change the auto step increment setting from yes to no. That seems to have fixed the problem.
