Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi All

I've recently bought a new synth. I decided that a good way of getting to know it would be to use the 500, the synth and nothing else bar a few drum samples.

I've got a really nice mellow thing going on with some nice sounds I've made. I have this melody line that I want to record the midi into the 500 so it will play back the sound from the synth. No matter what I do I can't stop the sounds (I've sampled and assigned to the pads) in the 500 from triggering when I play the sound from the synth to record the midi info. I have midi out from a controller keyboard (no internal sounds) connected to the midi in on the 500. Midi out on the 500 connected to the midi in of my sound module.

I'm reading the beat making guide that's flogged on this site but still can't make head nor tail of the midi set up of the mpc. I've been using midi for years. what gives?

This driving me insane. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

Have you assigned the samples midi note numbers? If not, use midi note numbers in the bottom octave - ones you're not going to use in your midi sequences.

Yes it would. You might be able to go in and edit the sequences, I don't know as I never tried - I always re-record as it's quicker. I am ALWAYS forgetting to assign midi note numbers when I load in a sample and have to go back and re-do things.

Hey there,

i had the same problem and it took me f***in three hours to find out how i can change this. The manual doesn`t say anything about this function :(

anyway,maybe i have a more comfortable solution:

Choose a track-let`s say "D1" for example- and go to:

Track--->Params--->Program assign(first page) then select the current program (with cursor)and switch the Program to"off" position. Now you will hear only the Midi Notes(and not the internal samples)but this doesn`t affect any programs. If there was a sample on "D1"(in the program)just switch to another Track for using all internal samples again...hope this was what you asked for ;)

cheers...
