Recently I made my fird vinyl buy on ebay, I'm wondering if I made a good deal...

I payed 65 $ for 80LP's in VG condition, what do you guys think bout that?
Mmm I was also wondering if i'll have any hot samples to cut out of these LP's...maybe you know some of these albums, so you could tell me...

ANY RECORD HAS SOMETHING TO SAMPLE ITS JUST THE FEEL OF IT AND
HOW YOU WANT THE TRACK TO SOUND. I HAVE SAMPLED HAWAIIAN MUSIC
AND POLKA AND MADE SOME CRAZY JOINTS

Well in VG condition those are worth about $1 each so you decide. IMO it's too much money for those specific records in that kind of condition. The issue however with buying a Lot like that is the shipping. Was it $65 shipping included? Or local pick up?

the shipping was 15$ so the total was 80$...
i want those records for sampling...

just want to mention that i live in poland and we dont have good diggin spots... so i dont have an alternative option...

do you think ill find samples on those records?

what price would be "ok" for those?

Yeah, there are some samples in there that I know of and there are also some disco tracks so there's soe material worth it.

yo i got that spinners album, hot

for outside of the states that's seems a good price. plenty to get you sampling.

Not much there I'd personally mess with, even if I saw it in a dollar bin.

But if you're new to this I guess getting burnt and finding gems is going to be part of the learning process. There's some stuff in there, but by and large -- not worth it in my eyes.

If you're buying them for the music and what's potentially sample material (something I tend to do 95% of the time), then I guess it's not a loss on your part.

well, i know that i wont find any super rare samples and gems there but as i said, we dont have any diggin spots here in poland and im planning to go to ny in may, so i need some samples to keep me alive till then...

after i sample them, im planning to keep the hot records that i like and sell the rest...

ahh well, ill just have to wait until i get it...

If I were in your shoes (in a place like Poland) I'd do a couple things:

1) Mine your local area for soulful, funky, and psychedelic records (sometimes even folk). I've taken samples from RCA recordings of Iraqi musicians in the 20s before . . . so many countries had some sort of scenes going on in the 60s and 70s -- sort of satellites of American and British genres with a touch of local flavor.

2) Scour rare groove blogs and SoulSeek for stuff that will familiarize you with things.

3) Once you build up your knowledge, get hard to find records through on-line stores or eBay; you'll be fairly certain what you're buying will have something usable on it.

yea im already looking through some polish vinyls got some samples, but hope for more...

as it goes for blogs etc. thanks for the advice, all build up my knowledge so when may comes ill know what to buy, i already got some store addresses so i know where to look...

when i bought this pack i thought that ramsel lewis, earth wind & fire etc. have a lot of hot samples that i can use...

unless you've been digging outside the states, you might not appreciate just how lucky you are.

good score on some those , dont trip theres some haters on here, but hey your going to get that when you post up what you got.

pretty much 1$ a record, thats not bad. you'll learn as you get more in to it,
theres samples on most of those, sure they been used but it's up to you to make it sound different.

use the breaks site to see whats been used then look for other samples on that same record.

learn to chop so others cant tell what you used.

theres some good drums on some those

read the liners on those records and learn who plays what and what other groups they played with, thats how you learn to get better at diggin.

most these guys digg for stuff thats not been used before you have to be realy good to get to that point , just keep diggin you'll get the hang of it.

i recommend you dont diggin to much on-line you'll spend more money that way keep to the charity shop and fleamakets, ask people in your area if they have records they want to sell or post in the paper that your looking for records just watch out what you buy there's alot of junk out there too.

learn the sound your looking for and the artist and label that will make it easier and dont stick to one genre or yr you limit yourself keep an open mind and listen to all types of music.
