Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Yes I know, im a sucker for buying the 5000! I payed $2500 for that ish and could only sell it for $1750 :( But I got a like new 4k for $1600. It is different but Im a quick learner. Previously had a 1k and today I tried to transfer all my old programs and sequences from the 1k and 5k to the 4k. I was heartbroken to find out that it doesn't recognize anything :(. I saw in some previous posts that they were going to fix this in an update. Is this update out? I think I have the current version, 1.7 I think. Holla!

Sorry about the money you lost but look what you gained. The MPC 4000 is a powerful MPC that will take care of your sampling/percussion/sequencing needs....just like every other MPC. If you can't make 'hot' music with it, you can't make 'hot' music with anything. I just hope when Namm comes, you don't try to sell your MPC 4000 for $1200 in an effort to get the MPC 5000XL or the MV 9000.

Also....the MPC 4000 will most likely never support file formats specific to the MPC 1000, 2500, or 5000. It has been discontinued for some time now.

Has there been any talk of any samplers coming from Akai this winter Namm? 5kxl or not?

No talk of new samplers from Akai.

A lot of speculation on the next MV, but I don't think Roland would replace a good product so soon.

Damn! I got an email from Akai tech that said there would be no update for the 4000. Looks like im gonna have to find a way to get a 1k again (which I like btw). Does the 4k accept midi files or something. I was thinking of buying a 1k, resave sequences as midi files and taking it back :? I also have some sequences that I did on an MV8000 (yes, I get around!) and I am considering doing the same thing. I really need access to my old ish, it's some heat!!
