hahah i saw that too. goddamn mikolo, if i lived in the uk i'd be you
also good to see such improvements in Grid mode, looks like grid is gonna be zoomable (in a great way, too)

was he showing the q-link to trim start/end as being more precise (scalable w/ the zoom?). I hope so, b/c thats a feature that oughtta work, but with the imprecision of the sliders itself is nearly worthless as it stands....

^ on large samples, yes. on microsamples and oneshots, it's accurate enough. however, i just always use the data wheel because it's closer to the clickers and i'm faster with it.

man, what a ton of improvements in that video.
i love what i see regarding chord tracks. chord tracks plus INST pgms are going to be great...imagine turning a track to CHORD just to bang out the chord progression and then flippin it to MIDI to add a monophonic melody line overtop...mmmh this is looking good

i cannot believe that this is only going to be a $15 dollar upgrade. from what i've seen, i think it's a "smaller" upgrade than os1=>os2, but then again, i'm not so sure. the massive number of small handy additions is out of this world, and the big additions are going to be so helpful.

tracks can be changed in any mode? it's this kind of small handy stuff that made jjos such a workflow improvement from the beginning, and they're just multiplying to the point where it's like DAW hotkeys - so many to memorize

i can't wait until i'm as quick with os2xl as i am with os2.

That's some sick stuff right there! I can hardly believe that JJOSv2 is just a baby (compared to OSv1) and this is already dropping.

What's around the corner, OSv3?

that's what i meant by "scaling" ... as you zoom in the q-links would be constrained to the zoom view.... i always use the wheel too, though i think doing start and ends without changing the field would be nice

tao:

yeah os2 seemed a little young, only a year old, but i bet people will continue to use it just like folks continue to use os1.

i figure i'll redo some of my old os1 and os2 tracks in os2xl before tracking out and release another instrumental album for free like Edge City, i have enough beats for it

man i gotta get on my turntable game too

legs: scalable zooming/s/e adjustment is something i also hope is implemented. especially because if i'm correct, the qlinks don't have a resolution limited to 240 steps, so they could actually even more surgical than they are

Really nice stuff! It even has the device naming for the midi channels from the 4k Makes me want to pick up a 1000

Can T.C. be adjusted in real time on prerecorded material on JJ OS?
By b-righteous Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:19 pm
Yes. The 4k lets you play the sequence while you adjust T.C. settings in real time. You don't have to guess and go back and forth.

that sounds excellent. but even with nonrealtime TC rate/swing percentage there's not much guesswork involved once you've been forced to memorize/auralize what percentage corresponds to what. it would be faster if it worked in realtime but i don't know if we'll ever see that. not a dealbreaker for me, though, as once i have quantize strength, odds are i'll be nailing each performance on the first go...very exciting.

id be you

haha... I hope for your sake your not too like me... I missed the train twice today. I am notoriously absent minded...

I suppose I look for details on the os that will help my work flow, it'll be interesting to see how chord, simult and mutes end up. Independent simult and mute would be cool...and I want to try out using the arp timing thing for those subtle "buzz" drum rolls.. im wondering if it'd work..hmmm..

with regard to live auditioning for t.c., the nearest you can get currently is in the grid edit loop edit mode, but you can only move around notes on an individual pad, and it'll set everything highlighted to a common value as you shift the notes forward and backward. There was an older os in which you could apply t.c. in grid edit without stopping the sequencer, but you still had to use the do it/ undo buttons.it was os1 something but cant remember which

Sounds like a close enough work around. I wonder why it was removed?
