Buzzing through my Speakers

I just had a new studio built and notice when I play my music I have a loud buzz in the background or just even when nothing is playing. But I notice when I hit the light switch to turn the lights off the sound goes away. I went to guitar center and told them the problem and they told me to buy a power converter which I did but I am still having the same problem. This is really effecting the quality of my music. Can anyone help me with a solution to solve this problem or know of any equipment that can help support this?

Is it a fluorecent light? If so, use a filament lamp, such as a reading lamp or something more powerful if you need brighter light.

Yes I had the lights installed in the ceiling like all other studio I see but my only problem ins getting rid of that buzzing

Is your lighting on the same circuit breaker as the rest of the studio? If so, that could be the problem. Sounds to me like it could be a ground loop hum. Which could happen if the lights are on the same breaker. It that is the problem, you'll have to redo your lighting, or plug all the studio gear into different outlets that are on a different breaker. A friend of mine had the same problem with his Motif XS8 in his studio. Also, it's a power conditioner that you should buy, not a power convertor. what does the buzz sound like? is it constant or does it change? do you have an external hard disk plugged into the same circuit as your computer? that'll cause a weird sound in the speakers...
