hello again, is it true that the 500 is greater than the 2kxl.that the 2kxl is like a big old computer and the 500 is a new stronger laptop with more functions?and if so why do people buy 2kxls?

Nostalgia. Peer pressure. Grew up with the machine and know it front to back and would rather not change. Prefer on screen wave editing and/or want multiple outs.

the fact that XL has the wave screen alone makes it better than the 500

Not really . The 3000 doesn't have wave editing, nor the SP-1200 but I enjoy working on both more than the XL, hands down . But I'm a dude who'd take quality over convenience any day of the week .

Don't get me wrong though . . I'd rather use a XL than a chinsy 500 .

because making a 16 beat track on a machine with 16 pads makes more sense then on a machine with 12 pads...

Quality built...
Sound...
Workflow...
Look...
Multiple outs...
Nostalgia....

Plus you could hit someone over the back of their head and knock em out with a 2kxl and the machine would still probably be intact.... do the same with a 500 and you just won't get the same effect...
This to me is probably the dealbreaker....
