1 - create a program, assign samples to it
2 - change the MIDI NOTE assignment to your pads
3 - turn track to MIDI
4 - record pad performance (using pads from step #2)
5 - play back your performance.
6 - BUG: the incorrect pads play back.

Yes I've had trouble related to this too. Not sure if it's exactly the same thing but I belive it is.

When I'm working with standard midi file data and trying to adjust midi-note-to-pad assignments in a JJ OS2-program, the results are unpredictable. The right pads are definitely not playing if the assignments are not according to the default midi note mapping. My theory is that JJ OS2 programs will play pads according to the default mapping no matter what mapping is set in the current program. The midi-note mapping in the program seems to affect midi out only. JJ OS1 and Akai OS is not working like this.

However, a program made on JJ OS1 but loaded into JJ OS2 will map midi-note-to-pad according to the program map. So JJ OS2 programs behave in a completely different way in this sense and it's very confusing. If this is not a bug it's a strange feature that should be removed on OS2XL. I can't see it serving any puropse at all.

EDIT ADDITION: Confirmed. I get exactly the same result as Nym.

just sent this one to JJ,
simult seq/note on/track mute bug.

1.load a program, set pads to note on.release to zero.
2.record a performance.e.g. seq 1 track 1
3.playback seq: durations are correct :no bug
4.change seq e.g. seq 2
5.select seq 1 as simult seq.
6. mute track 1 on seq 2
7.press play
8.note durations on simult seq 1 track 1 are cut short.

bug: track mute on main seq will effect note durations on the simult seq, for the same number track.
note:without track mute on main seq track, simult seq track plays correctly.

2.enter main screen
3.highlight pad number, press window
4.pgm pad list appears
5. screen says play mode = "note on", but sample plays as one shot
6.change to one shot, sample plays as note on.

I have around 20 folders containing different samples on a hdd. Some fodlers contain a lot of subfolders or files with long filenames. When I try to access these folder I get a popup saying "Please Wait" but then nothing (believe me I have waited).

The unit hangs and I need to power off - extremely frustrating! Any ideas?

Running jjos from a couple of months back (2.something).

JJOS2 V1.22:

If there are many files with a longer filename like "VH01_file_name_0001.wav", the system can only load the first one of these samples. When you audition the samples you'll hear only the first one. When you load that sample and try to load another long name sample, you'll get an error message which says something like "sample already in memory - replace?".

Ah, ok. I'll work around it.

How about these three issues which have been bugging me:

1. Can't seem to assign a MIDI channel to a track/program so I could play MPC multitimbrally using external sequencer.

2. Playing one note/pad using external sequencer plays all the sounds from ALL the four pages which are assigned to that same pad.

3. Changing the note number for a pad (from all possible places) doesn't seem to affect the pad's note number when playing notes from external sequencer. This means that if the pad was originally assigned to be an F#2 and I change it to C3, I still have to play F#2 with the external sequencer/keyboard to get that pad playing.

well this seems like bug to me..

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=105902

i have my midi receive channel changed in "all" mode
and have empty midi channel, with no pgm (drum/midi doesn´t matter)
i try to record or play current sequence and play keys on
top of that, some keys stops some samples from other tracks
and they have set to "midi off"(it only stops samples, not plays any samples)
.. i´ll bet this has something to do
with midi notes of the pads, but still , why the phuck it affects
to the other tracks that dont even have active midi channel set???
if this is not a bug , somebody please tell me how should i config
my mpc to avoid this .. same thing goes for jjos1 and 2
haven´t tried this with akai os.

tomheavybeats wrote:Hi,
Running JJOS2 v1.20 and was controlling external Access Virus Synth using MPC fine (in live situation). I've now added a Oxygen 8 v2 midi keyboard to control synth too (need both MPC and Oxygen to control synth). Best way I could configure chain is Oxygen midi out to midi in 1 of MPC and MPC Midi A Out to synth. I set Soft through to ON but MPC now keeps crashing. I suspect it might be something to with Midi Out After touch. Here's the error message and how I've configured the midi page:

Any help much appreciated!

well, i have jjos1 and oxygen8 v2 doesn´t work at all, i have tried the midi ports of the mpc with different controller, and oxygen with 2 synths and both worked fine. but the mpc and oxygen don´t seem to like each other. it seems that mpc itself has some serious midi issues, or jjos .. my setup : juno 106 goes to midi in1 and back from midi out a, oxygen 8v2 midi in 2 and midi out b goes to korg poly ex800(synth module). korg seems to receive midi, no problem , but oxygen doesn´t work at all. and like i said in earlier message ,juno keeps sending note off messages for the samples that BTW has different midi note. i checked it yesterday, midi note F2 stops sample wich is assigned to note D#3. exactly same setup worked fine with 2000classic.. i hope this is going to be fixed with os2xl , cause this is killing me .

EDIT

my keyboard sends note off messages to the some samples EVEN if the track is set "midi off" and no program.
i have tried all the possible ways in midi/sync page and this same thing goes for all jjos´s.i haven´t tried the akais yet.
and im not the only one with the problem :

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=105377&p=951608

i´ll keep my fingers crossed this is going be fixed. because i´ve been extremely happy with this jjos´s
and my synths but if they can´t come along better than this , i have to change my setup (again)

os2xl chord bug?

ive been messing around with the chord feature, but it doesnt work quite the same as in this video of the beta os

http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=4G5R1ovLC ... re=channel

if you watch around 1.25 it seems that the first note of chord sounds as soon as the pad is struck, and
the other notes follow,in accordance with the arp setting. On version 1.00 when i apply an arp value there is a delay between
hitting the pad and hearing the first sound, the other notes follow after the ticks specified by the arp setting..
the initial moment of silence after hitting the pad seems to correspond to this tick value as well.

please tell me if your mpc is doing the same or whether this is how its meant to work.. thanks!

BUG; DELETE in DRUM EDIT causes AUTO STEP INCREMENT

1- create drum track
2- record a performance
3- turn AUTO STEP INCREMENT OFF
4- delete a note
5- BUG; DELETE causes cursor to move +1 step.

note selection bugs and graphical bugs in drum grid edit too, i'd love any contribution to help pin those down.

also, does anyone else feel that the cursor in DRUM GRID EDIT is too fat? i would greadly prefer it to be 2 pixils thick instead of 5.

BUG: delete selection is very large in DRUM GRID EDIT when ZOOMED IN

1- load program
2- record a busy performance
3- enter drum grid edit
4- zoom far in
5- hit DELETE over a note
6- BUG: DELETE selection is huge. delete selection cannot be made smaller than 4 cursor wheel increments.

EDIT this is dependent on TC setting.
TC=1/8th, the DELETE block covers the whole 1/8th note.
this is lame when you're not using 100% TC strength.
"delete" should not be by block, but by NOTE/RANGE
